Nice, calm beach in the Curú reserve. We stayed in the local accommodation, which is basically (no ac) but authentic. The cabins have various sizes up to 12 people.
Animals are all around, racoons, monkeys, crabs.
The sea was pleasantly warm in April/May but the beach is not cristal clear, the is some natural dirt from mangroves.
There are some microorganisms making the water sparkle blueish when you move your hand in it. There is a boat tour showing this (which was good), but this really works right on the Curú beach ... some 10-20m into the water when it reaches your waist level.

Read moreMy best friend and I came here, hung out on the beach, kayaked, and ate lunch at the restaurant they have here. Of all the things I did in Costa Rica, this experience was my favorite! While kayaking, the beach and its waters were completely ours and we could hear the howler monkeys howling in the canopy. During lunch, a group of capuchin monkeys came and made some noise. (Don't bother them, they'll chase you! We saw some kids provoke them, that's how I know). The food was delicious, as all the food in Costa Rica is. 10/10 recommend...
Read moreLovely idea but.... Paths confusing, wildlife stays well away (except racoons around the bins) so don't expect too much. Having said that, keep your expectations realistic and it is a lovely location. The walks are easy, don't believe the given times, difficulties and requirements for hiking shoes. All walks take less than half indicated time, even at a very leisurely pace. They are all easy and perfectly fine for walking sandals, but I wouldn't recommend flip-flops!
