Costa Rica ATV & Horseback Riding Adventures — Attraction in San Rafael

When we first arrived, we were greeted by Laura and Luis. Laura explained all of the procedures and paper work thoroughly. Luis gave us clear instructions on how to to operate the ATVs, and he allowed us to apply the directions as they were given. We had a great time with Luis being our tour guide for ATV riding. After our tour ended, Laura informed us there was a power outage. The main gate at the entrance cannot open without electricity. Another alternative to opening the gate is to manually use a key, but none of the workers had a key. We waited together with Laura for about twenty minutes. However, after the twenty minutes had passed and there was no sign of electricity returning, she was so kind to invite us to one of the glamping tents. She offered us refreshments. Her husband was also kind and pointed out the howler monkeys that were in the trees. Laura’s daughter was also fun and helped the time to fly. After about two hours, the gate was opened with the aid of a generator and ATV. My one recommendation, please provide one or more worker(s) with a copy of the key to the main gate. We thoroughly enjoyed our atv tour with our guide Dilan. Our family spends part of each year living in this area of Costa Rica. We have explored by 4x4 many times on the dirt roads near the Ranch, however we saw many more remote areas and had an absolute blast crossing small rivers, playing in the mud, and exploring the jungles and farm land below Tenorio. The outfit did their best to make sure we had fun. The equipment was top notch, the ranch was well kept and all the staff was helpful and friendly. They can tailor your experience to your riding ability. Our guide Dilan did an outstanding job, and we will be riding again with him when we return. Me and my two children went with the guide Marcos. We had an amazing adventure with him. The horses were beautiful and very well trained, they were sure footed and very secure. We went through mountainous terrain and across beautiful rivers. Marcos shared local knowledge with us about the plants and wildlife and cut many native fruits from the trees for us to enjoy. He helped my two kids (15 & 12) feel comfortable around the horses and showed them how to control them very well. I can’t say enough how amazing this place was.
