We visited La Paz waterfall gardens on a Tuesday in February (high season). You enter and buy tickets at the reception of the La Paz waterfall garden hotel. You walk through an animal viewing that takes about 30-45 min and very cool. Then 30-44 min of waterfall viewing. There is no access to the water pools for swimming, just viewing decks. It was sunny and 60s. I wore jeans, tennis shoes, and a light hoody. I felt very comfortable all morning. Everything is very well constructed and maintained. The trails are paved with many stairs but most are descending. It ends at a gift shop where a shuttle will bring you back to the entrance. Well worth the $200 for our family of five. Three restaurants were available opening at 11:00 so we went to Tortillas. It was good with a good view. The hotel rooms are very pricy, but now being there and on the grounds I would consider it worth it for a future trip. This trip we stayed off site. We will be highly recommending to our friends that seek ideas for a Costa Rica family destination that prioritizes quality and experience.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens was our first stop during our travels in Costa Rica and it was an excellent experience. We spent 3 and a half hours viewing animals local to CR. There are signs everywhere stating that the establishment is a sanctuary for animals that have been rescued, but I have to admit that the area where the large cats were kept felt more like a zoo (hence only 4 stars). The “stars” of the show are the waterfalls. Just gorgeous! The pathway to the waterfalls is perfectly wide enough to walk on, and yet still maintain the natural integrity of the land. We also had the buffet lunch, and it was delicious! Steaming hot food, fresh fruit and juices made for a great first day in Costa Rica! PS: we really enjoyed the short, but spirited shuttle bus ride back to the reception area...the driver...
