Playa Camaronal — Attraction in Zapotal

It's a beautiful place.

Do not plan to surf or swim here during the rainy season. The river flowing into the ocean at this beach makes the water very dirty, that combined with constantly hatching and releasing baby turtles from the turtle conservation, allows alligators from the river and sharks to hunt the turtles at all times of day. And you don't want to get mistaken as food.

In the dry season the water is more clear and so it's not a good hunt area for sharks and alligators during the day. This makes it safe to swim and surf here in the dry season.

Access to the beach is by driving on a dirt road, without 4x4 it takes a while. Once you reach the parking lot, you have to pass a speed bump which is quite high - without 4x4 it will hit your lower car.
