A lovely beach located eastward from Dubrovnik. Getting there: Can be accessed by Bus 8 from Pile Gate (as of July 2022), a bus with a circular route so there's only one direction it goes in. There are multiple ways to get to the beach, most of it involving climbing down atleast a 100 steps. We found a narrow set of stairs across from the bus station and that led us to a road which then led us to the beach. The access to the beach is beside a cathedral of sv. Jakov at the end of the road.
About the place: This beach is truly one of the nicest beaches you can find around Dubrovnik. It's quite big and so one can enjoy swimming here inspite of the crowd during peak hours. Two cocktail bars are situated on the beach towards the back and a reasonably priced umbrella and beach bed rental service is situated between them. In July 2022 the rent was 70 kuna per unit. So we paid 210 Kuna for 2 beds and a shared umbrella. Spent the afternoon and early evening here before heading back to Pile Gate, which is about 15 minutes away by the same bus 8 which restarts from here.
To sum up: If you're looking for a quiet beach which is a bit away from the bustling city centre and would like to avoid tourists, with a great view of the fort walls then this beach is...
Read moreWhat can I say, this beach is absolutely lovely, it is secluded but can be very busy, especially in the afternoon, and not easy to get to without instructions and lots of steps to get down and up later. We have found free road parking spaces, but around 30 minutes walking distance away. It's worth it though, as other nearby carparks are extremely expensive (6.6€ per hour). Worth bringing some food. Prices at the restaurant are ridiculous, however, it's understandable. Other than the restaurant there is a beach bar, shower, and a place to rent an umbrella or double kanoa. The beach is mostly stony but you can find a small sandy bit too. The water is crystal clear so we could see a fish swimming between our legs. It was a good call with us coming there in the morning. Tip…won't get yourself fooled by the first steps you see, it is not the way to get to the beach, well, it probably is, but not to this one. Just walk... and then walk a bit more 😅 until you arrive at the church. Walk past it, it's almost there, right behind that curve. Once you notice the beach sign, walk down the stairs and enjoy your time (see the pictures for...
Read moreChose to spend a guilt free beach day here on our last day in Croatia. Did not disappoint! Got to the beach for 10 30 and easily got a spot in the second row. Sunbeds were nice and comfy and 25 euros each for the day (15 extra for an umbrella) which didn't feel too bad. After spending lots of days swimming in more quiet spots straight off the rocks (as we don't like loud busy beaches), this delivered a nice change in scene. The beach was busy by midday but not so much that it ruined the relaxed atmosphere, and the size of it feels very intimate, with the palm fronded beach bar giving it an almost tropical feel. The beach bar does great burgers and various other bar snacks such as fried fish and calamari and salads, although the salads looked a little basic. There is also one proper beach restaurant on the other side of the beach. The water was very calm too. If you're looking for a proper beach day with all the works but without the obnoxiously loud music and crowds, this is the...
