Brilliantly situated in the heart of Vransko Lake Nature Park, the Kamenjak viewpoint offers one of the most spectacular views in all of Croatia. Although it is only 285 meters above sea level, the panorama from this lookout point is absolutely breathtaking. From here, the view stretches over the largest natural lake in Croatia—Vransko Lake—on one side. On the other side, the gaze extends across the Pašman Channel all the way to the islands of Pašman, Kornati, and Murter, and on clear days, you can even see Dugi Otok. Kamenjak is a popular destination for all nature lovers, cyclists, and hikers. Numerous walking and cycling trails lead to the summit, and the path is well-marked. Additionally, at the very top, there is an educational trail and information boards that provide details about the park's flora and fauna. The best time to visit is in the early morning or late afternoon, when the colors are at their most vibrant, and the sunsets from Kamenjak leave an unforgettable impression. It might seem like a lot of photos, but I simply couldn't resist the magnificent view from this spot. I was captivated by the ever-changing light, from the bright sun of the day to the brilliant colors of the sunset. It was a truly mesmerizing experience to watch the day transition into twilight, with the sun dipping below the horizon. As the last light faded, the moon began to rise, casting a gentle glow over the entire scene. A visit to Kamenjak is a true experience that combines natural beauty, tranquility, and a panorama that you will remember...
Read moreFantastic, almost surreal, view of the Vrana lake and the islands. Very easy access by paved road (though there are no markings/directions on the main road, you have to know where you are going to get there, but Google maps makes it very easy). Once there, there are several observation points, different trails (about 1,5 km each to the lake), a restaurant with simple, but delicious local food and drinks, like prosciutto and hard cheese (you can reserve a stone table that overlooks the lake and islands and make it a very romantic outing), a small chapel (no spoilers, you have to read about it's history when you get there, but it's an astounding light and darkness dichotomy, having a dark chapel filled with human evil and amazing God's creation as you step out of it), clean bathrooms and a souvenir shop. Entrance fee is 5€/person, parking is free. That fee gets you in to the lake birds exhibition, and several other places (that would take you about 4-5 hours of sightseeing, if you want to experience the whole thing). Sightseeing Kamenjak is best to be visited before sunset. A real gem, don't...
Read moreBreathtaking view! It's possible to go all the way up by car and from there it's just a short, easy 200m walk over rocks to reach the best viewpoints. The scenery with the light blue lake in the foreground and the dark blue sea and all the little islands in the back is stunning. There's also a beautiful traditional restaurant at the viewpoint. They have meat-, fish-, and cheese-platters at reasonable prices. The food was excellent and I couldn't think of a more scenic place to eat! There's a 5€ charge to enter that's totally worth it and it's valid for the entire Vransko lake park. We went at the end of May and it wasn't very crowded at all. Can only...
