The Trail of Seven Waterfalls is a circular trail which begins and ends at the point where Mirna river passes by Buzet brewery. Unofficial parking lot is by the fence of the brewery where one can find a nice pump with potable water. The beginning of the trail is not marked well. As it is circular, it actually doesn't matter which direction is chosen, but the official, traditional and a bit more attractive direction follows the right, northern bank of river Mirna, upstream first as a macadam road which continues as a footpath from the point where river Pivka joins Mirna. The trail now goes through a narrow canyon of river Pivka passing by few small caves/mines and four waterfalls. The third one, Vela peč (2.3 km from the start) can be a nice place to rest as it has wooden tables beneath a nearby cliff. The steepest and most demanding part of the trail is here, between the 3rd and 4th waterfall as it goes up the canyon. The next interesting point is Napoleon's bridge over river Pivka (the trail goes over it), 4.9 km from the start. A little farther from here, the trail starts to descend to village Kotle where one reaches river Mirna again and the highlight of the trail - a beautiful complex of waterfalls with basins where bathing and swimming is possible. This is located 8.1 km from the start. The trail returns a bit uphill to the crossroads and continues as a mild descent through the canyon of river Mirna, with the 6th and 7th waterfall along the way. Finally, the canyon opens again at the confluence of Mirna and Pivka and brings us back to the starting point. Some useful tips: the total length is ~15km, a bit more or less depending whether one explores every waterfall, etc... As the nature is astonishing, one will want to explore everything ;) try to visit in the season of medium or high water level as it will be more attractive; good hiking shoes, a GPS or tracking App and a good supply of food and water is...

Beautiful trail, however it is quite demanding, would NOT recommend bringing along dogs or small children. There is a steep rock you will need to climb using ropes. Few tips: go in the spring or late autumn so you get the chance to see all the waterfalls, rivers run dry in summer. Take at least two liters of water as there is no place to refill your bottles. Good hiking shoes are a must, maybe even waterproff as you will need to cross the river on at least two occasions. And last but not least, when you get to the starting point next to the Istrian water utility company take the left turn before crossing the bridge, follow the extercise trail. Of course, you can go across the bridge and then left, which is your end point (so basically you will walk the trail in the opposite direction) but keep in mind that if you do that you will have to go down the steep rock at the end of the trail which can be rather tehnically challenging. The trail could use some maintaining and better direction signposts. Stay alert for the marks on trees (red/blue or green) or you could get lost as there are a lot of different trails...

🇺🇸 A beautiful and a very long walk! There is plenty of parking. There is one large parking lot a little further from the beginning of the trail, there is one right at the beginning, and for those who know there are several places where you can stop right at the beginning of the trail. The trail has 7 waterfalls, but if you do not want to visit all 7 you can choose to visit just some. ❗WARNING - follow the green blue arrows. They will take you to all the waterfalls. They are not always well visible because someone smart decided to use 2 colors that blend perfectly with the surrounding greenery. In addition to green-blue arrows, there are also blue-red ones, don't follow them! I have no idea what they are for. ❗WARNING 2 - whatever they tell you that the trail is suitable for all ages, it is NOT. The first half of the trail, to the 3rd waterfall is VERY steep and difficult. Especially the part where you climb the wedges, it is not for children under 7 or for those over 60. It is difficult and very physically demanding. It takes about 6 hours to go through the whole trail which is in itself VERY demanding so bring food and lots of water. Why bring water? Isn't there water on the waterfalls?? Yes, there is, but the waterfalls are further away from you and are not very accessible. And, believe it or not, except in one restaurant on the road where you can BUY half a liter of water for 12 kn, THERE IS NOWHERE TO FILL UP YOUR WATER BOTTLES! As for the restaurant, the number of seats is limited and the owner is very RUDE, so it is best to bypass it. If you are ready for A LOT OF WALKING, are in good shape and you love BEAUTIFUL natural scenes, be sure to visit! 🙂 . ❗UPOZORENJE - pratite zeleno plave strelice. One će vas odvesti do svih slapova.
