Castle Jankovic — Attraction in Grad Daruvar

Compared to other castles in Croatia, this one falls under better preserved category, so why 3 stars?

Because of wasted potential! Don't get me wrong, if you are nearby then by all means come and see this beauty (just check online whether it's opened or not, sometimes it's closed for visitors), just don't expect too much content inside. There are plans to further enrichment of historical items inside, but for now there are only few rooms available.

I simply must give praise to cute girl working there, she was full of historical facts and really knew how to be informative while not being pushy.

I will revisit Janković castle in the future and hopefully city or whoever is responsible will invest some time and money to give this castle look and respect...

Lots of history behind this castle from 2nd century. Worth visiting especially with the local guide. This place has a beautiful park around, for walking, relaxing, smoking or for personal reasons. Famous among local teens. So, visit if...

Dvorac iz 1777. godine ... svakako posjetiti! Krucijalni moment u razvitku sadašnjeg Daruvara predstavlja dolazak obitelji Antuna Jankovića na ove prostore. Godine 1745. Antun Janković je od kraljevske komore kupio sjeverni dio dobra Sirač, u kojem se nalazilo i naselje Podborje, područje današnjeg Daruvara. Ime Podborje zadržalo se sve do 28.02.1765. godine kada je kraljica Marija Terezija u diplomi koju je uručila Antunu pl. Jankoviću, dodijelila predikat „de Daruvar“. Pisalo je „castrum Podborje aliter Daruvar“ (grad Podborje, inače zvan Daruvar), a sve od grba Antuna pl. Jankovića u kojem je bio ždral (na mađarskom-daru), kojega je on kao plemić naslijedio od djeda Bonaventure Jankovića,...
