Long time ago we were hiking on the opposite side of of the Cikola canyon an we saw this amazing fortress. And I was thinking that we should explore it. Finally my friend told me that he was already there and will take. There is macadam road and from there easy walk toward the fortress. There are several mountain trails and you can even go to the Čikola river canyon. There is very interesting story about fortress built by local noble family Nelipic and then it was changing many owners because of the strategically important location. Venice was even ready to pay a lot of fortress to be destroyed but that did not happened at the end. It was finally captured by Turks and after they left it was abandoned for centuries to only walls are left standing and only small part of highest tower. It should be preserved or will crumble soon. View from the fortress is amazing and I cannot beleive that they were able to build it at all at...

You could potentially hike to the fortress itself but it still appeared difficult to access due to there being no marked paths. The road Google Maps takes you on from either side of the valley is deceivingly hard for non 4WD vehicles as the whole road is unsealed with gravel, and very steep (down and up) and narrow with no points to turn back. Apparently multiple people have been stuck at the bottom and needed emergency assistance to get up. The views were nice though but I would recommend sticking to the tourist sites in Krka, otherwise park your car at the top...

The Turks occupy in 1546 and rule it until 1648 when they drove them out of the domicile population. At that time, until today, it is left abandoned and no one has ever tried to establish life in it. Nowadays other ruins are a monument of a very interesting and burning period in Croatia's history. A beautiful view of the fort is from the gazebo on Goriš, while it can be accessed from...
