Nugal Beach, located near Makarska on the Croatian coast, is a true hidden paradise for those willing to go off the beaten path. Reaching the beach requires a moderate hike through a forest trail that winds along rocky terrain and eventually descends a steep cliffside — sturdy shoes and a sense of adventure are essential. The walk may be challenging, especially under the summer sun, but once you arrive, you’re greeted by a stunning, secluded cove surrounded by dramatic cliffs and untouched nature. The beach itself is small and made up of fine pebbles, with incredibly clear, turquoise water that invites you to swim and relax for hours. It’s peaceful and uncrowded, partly due to the difficult access, and it maintains a wild, almost untouched feel. It’s also known as a clothing-optional beach, so nudists are a common sight, adding to the laid-back, free-spirited atmosphere. There are no facilities, shops, or shade, so bring everything you need — water, snacks, and sun protection are a must. Despite these limitations, or perhaps because of them, Nugal Beach remains one of the most beautiful and authentic beach experiences in the region. If you’re willing to make the effort to get there, you’ll be rewarded with serenity, natural beauty, and some of the clearest water you’ll ever swim in.

EDIT (August 2024): Unfortunately, but there are some changes at the beach that those who still would like to spend here their vacation have to know. Plenty of people at the beach on Sunday. The water is still wonderful, and the picturesque view is still here, but there is no more division on two parts like there was in previous years. In the beach south part (former FKK), now there are definitely more textile guests. On Sunday it was no more than 10 naturists, all other - textile. So, please, before planning your trip here, take an account about this issue (someone even crossed out the sign on the rocks). ___ It is a beautiful and secluded beach 30 minutes walk through the pine forest from Makarska. There are no cafes on site, so it's worth taking a drink with you. The beach is divided into two parts: the first from the entrance - textile, and the other, near the rocks - naturist. Currently, the FKK part has decreased, although maybe in the high season (July-August) it will be half and half like before.

I captured an amazing photo of Nugal Beach from a cliffside after unintentionally following a barely visible path. After seeing a few people climbing, I assumed they were hikers just slightly higher up and decided to follow. This turned out to be a mistake, as the path quickly became extremely steep and unsafe. Stuck mid-cliff, between the main lower and upper trails, it was too dangerous to go back the way we came. Eventually, we managed to reach some trees and carefully slid down, holding onto them for support to avoid falling. It was a genuinely stressful and risky experience, and not one I’d recommend. Days later, I was still pulling cactus spines out from the descent. My strong advice: stick to the marked trails. It might be tempting to explore, but safety should always come first. That said, when approached via the proper paths, Nugal Beach is absolutely breathtaking and well worth a visit. Just enjoy it the safe way.

Beautiful beach — about a 30-minute walk through the park from Osejava beach, right at the end of the port in Makarska. Super easy trail, even with small kids. Gorgeous cliffs, colors, and views all along the way. Lots of shade and a few benches here and there. The beach itself is amazing — next to a big rock wall, with plenty of trees and spots to hide from the sun. Even in May, with maybe 20-30 people around, there were a few nudists. The wall has spray-painted signs saying “no nudists,” but they’re crossed out — so yeah, looks like there’s been some kind of back-and-forth about it. Either way, the beach is super accessible, which makes it kinda awkward when older naked dudes just hang out in plain sight while there are kids around. Not cool. But hey, that’s on the people, not the place. The beach itself? Brilliant. Just check out the photos. Easy walk into the water, crystal clear sea. Really, really nice.

Use a map take water and something to sit on, sun screen and snacks. This place is amazing. Stay on the track of the map I used Google maps. It is hilly but it's worth it. Sensible shoes is a must. The scenery is simply breath taking. There is no amenities on this beach however there are tables and benches and shade. It's also a nudist beach or half of it the other half is family friendly. Got a little lost on the way back but again as soon as I referred to the maps I was ok. There isn't a specific path for some of it but trust Google maps. I did and it was a beautiful find and a fun adventure.

The beach used to be a nudist’s, but now it is occupied mostly by regular non-nudist-tourists:) I cannot say it is so good as a must have place to visit, but you 100% need to walk through the path in the forest which goes near the beach in the Makarska direction. Here you’ll see a breathtaking views and breath the smell of pines forests. It is mainly in the shadows, so it won’t be a torture to walk around even in the midday. It was very crowded on 15th of August 2023. We came approximately at 8 am, there were already a couple of families. We left the car on Kaufland parking, it is free.
