We had an excellent, tiring but excillerating day on and above River Cetina. We rafted the river, traversed the caves, jumped from cliffs and then Zipline through the gorge. The rafting crew, including the transportation from Split was excellent. On time, professional and fun. The Zipline is run by another company. They were fine, but not as professional. The Zipline guides were okay, but were a bit too lax (e.g. checking their phone while preparing riders for the line).
We highly recommend this tour, but a few warnings. We have whitewater rafted and Zipline all over the world (Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Costa Rica, etc) so these warnings come from experience.
First, this is a VERY long day. We left split at 9:30am and returned at 8:30pm. We were exhausted.
Second, both of these activities are intense. The white water is pretty tame, but the cave experience was difficult. The cave itself was fine but climbing out of the cave and traversing the rocks was difficult. One person in our party actually slipped and fell. The guide offers a bypass to the cave. If you aren't very agile, you should probably take the bypass. Additionally, there is A LOT of paddling. Many rivers move quickly so paddling is largely only needed to steer. But this river is relatively slow so requires a fair bit of paddling, which contributes to the exhaustion I referenced earlier.
Finally, the Zipline experience is unlike any I have done before. The first line is HUGE...and is the first line so there is no chance to get prepared for it. The height and length is extreme. It is amazing but is terrifying. And added complexity is the self braking system that this company uses. It is fun having control of the braking but it adds a level of complexity that is intimidating when going on such large lines. The remaining lines are shorter and less intimidating but still have extreme height.
These warnings are not intended to criticize, but to prepare. We would do it a bit differently. I would consider splitting the two activities into two days to maximize enjoyment. The one person in our party would have bypassed the cave when it was offered. And, if there would be anyway the Zipline could end with the experience with that first line, rather than start with it that would be ideal.
One last thing... during the rafting they take photos and offer them for 15 euros. The photos are excellent and well...
Read moreCannot recommend this highly enough. We went for the afternoon rafting. 4 adults, 3 teenagers, all novice rafters. We parked at the meeting place by 3.15pm, paid in cash (45€ per person). We were escorted to a coach and taken 30 minutes up into the mountains - incredible scenery. Life vests and helmets were efficiently distributed. We were then sorted into group bookings with our own skipper. Ours was Hussein, who was extremely friendly and enthusiastic and helped us have a safe and exhilarating journey down the river. There were several exciting white water rapid sections and plenty of beautiful calm river rafting. The water is crystal clear. Hussein and the other skippers co-ordinated to get all the rafters to experience swimming, waterfalls, cave swimming (cold cold cold!), cliff jumping all photographed by various skippers ( the men in the group said 'keep your legs together when jumping of the cliff to spare bruising to the family jewels'). The journey ends back near the car park, you lift the raft out and return your helmet and life vest. The photos of the group can be bought at the end(15€) for all photos. Also plenty of biscuits and juice on arrival which was the best biscuits and juice I'd ever had. Alongside wearing a tshirt, wearing lightweight shorts was a win - there is some rockscrambling, and sliding around on bikini bottoms looked uncomfortable. Anyway... excellent value for money. Do it! You know...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pirate Rafting in Croatia absolutely blew us away! During our trip to Split, my teenage sons and I joined their white water rafting experience—and it was hands down one of the top highlights of our visit.
From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully organized. The included van service picked us up in Split and dropped us back off afterward—no extra hassle with cars, Ubers, or hidden costs. During the ride, we had the pleasure of chatting with some of the guides, and my son picked up so much about Croatian history and culture, which added an unexpected educational twist to the adventure.
On the river, we always felt safe. The rapids were exciting but never intimidating, striking the perfect balance between thrill and comfort. And the special moments? Absolutely unforgettable. We disembarked to travel through an eerie cave, swam across a cold dark pool, and climbed out the other side to bypass a narrow class 4 rapid—an incredible experience totally unlike anything we’ve had in the States.
Top it off with cliff jumping? My youngest couldn’t get enough and went three times. The guides were friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do.
Highly recommend Pirate Rafting to anyone visiting Split. If you’re up for a bit of adventure with zero stress and max enjoyment, this is it! 🏞️🚣♀️🇭🇷 Plus you avoid the...
