Though the walls are mostly torn down, it's easy to imagine what this castle would have looked like several hundred years ago. It was very quiet in the off season (we went in May), and we spent a while just contemplating the history of it. The weather also added to the epic vibe, with dark clouds and spots of sun bringing drama.

An amazing place, very isolated just there to explore. To get close you must drive along a rough track for about 5 mins, we had a 4x4 but I think most cars would manage. Once there the castle is a 3-5 min walk on a relatively easy path which is obviously well used. The castle has been made quite safe with consolidation to the tops of the ruined walls so little risk of falling stones and the views of the river are breathtaking. I would highly...

You should definitely come here when the weather is nice and sunny — especially if you have a car or a motorcycle. It’s the perfect way to discover this hidden gem. They’re currently making the area a bit more accessible by adding some stairs, which is a nice improvement.

Rode through this amazing landscape on a motorbike, brilliant twisty mountain roads all the way through Zadvarje up to Gata then back down the mountain roads passing through loads of wee villages, then down the most amazing view to plaza Vruju.
