Degarra Winery — Attraction in Grad Zadar

My absolute favorite moment in Croatia. This gorgeous winery is set apart from the busy city center. You feel like you are out in the middle of a quiet and private mountainside park. The inside is beautiful but we opted to sit outside on their gorgeous patio because the weather was so nice. We did a full wine tasting, trying 7 different Croatian wines made by the Degarra winery. this included everything from sparkling, whites, Reds, and an Aromatic wine (my first one ever) Our server was so kind and spent time explaining things to us and being patient with my many questions even though he was the only one working when we arrived and had multiple tables/Clients. The wine tasting is paired with the most wonderful assortment of local made products from small family productions. This included my getting to try Pag cheese which was high on my list! When we drove by one evening we were a little bit late but even though Mauro offered us some wines to taste but mentioned that for a real wine tasting we had to come back again. So we made an appointment for the next day. As we arrived Mauro had already prepared food plates for us with different meats, cheese, olives and anchovies. Then we could try/drink 5 of the wines that this small winery produces. Mauro explained us everything about the wines, winemaking and croatian lifestyle! We had a great time and enjoyed the tour in the winery. Also the tasting room has its charme with its really appropriate decoration! If we're one in Zadar again we definitly come back. We visited another winery previously and were not even sure do we even want to stop by another one. I’m so glad we did! We were first guest and a man who was our host was incredibly nice. We had 7 wines tasting and he had great knowledge about wine and we got a story of how two friends started Degarra in the garage, Also we got beautiful smoked meat and cheese and we had lot of fun with our lovely host who gave us his full attention and entertained us. All wine was very good, my favourite was white sparkling wine. We ended up buying few bottles for our friends. We enjoyed a lot, so instead of 20 min, we ended up staying there few hours!
