Low key place. There are suppose to be some hikes from here but were not marked up - that's why we visited. Evident a lack of investment as the buildings are tumbling down. The newer one is intriguing latched onto an older one. Got a feeling that the park doesn't know what to do with them so they are left to tumble down or put another way they have invested in wildlife preservation rather than celebrating the parks hunting past. Obviously this is the correct thing to do but seeing newer buildings tumbling down is a little bizarre. Read moreIf you're in the area it's worth a look at one of Tito's boltholes, apparently one of many. Ultimately though beyond the melancholy sense of abandonment there's not a lot to offer.
The castle is little more than a large house and even that isn't that old. The charm of place that remains is similar to visiting any old and abandoned facility, be it it an old factory or perhaps more similar to an old barracks.
Apparently there is a restaurant open from time to time, it was closed when I was there on a Sunday, if it had ever been open.
