Mindblown!! This is an ancient natural cave, utterly stunning, far from the madding crowds of Split. I had the cave all to myself the day I went, I spent 1.5 hours down there and it was almost a spiritual experience. - Nice, simple infrastructure to experience the caves. The Punda family takes pride and joy in being able to protect this natural wonder, over several generations. I suggest wearing walking shoes with good grip, and a light sweater / warm t-shirt — it’s a bit chilly down there. This is a GREAT experience for children as well — bound to open their minds and make them fall in love with our planet. €8 entry fee, cash only. I took the bus from Split (route 67 - the only bus serving this area as of May 2024) for €2, but there was no return bus until evening, so I was forced to get an Uber back for €32. If you can drive, that’s the best option really. You can park your car right next to the entrance. Afterwards, have a picnic somewhere nearby — the entire area is beautiful, a great way to spend half a day in nature. The pictures simply don’t do justice to the place, no not...

Exceptional. We're experienced cave visitors, having seen our share in the US & Europe. The Vranjaca Cave offers grandeur, accessibility, variety of rock formation, and pride of ownership. The younger brother pointed out one formation where stalactite met stalagmite, forming a continuous column w a red ring where the two joined - over the course of 350 million years. He said that, over the 120 years the family discovered and has owned this cave, the rock formation grew only 8 mm! There's a sense of time scale for you.

We took 2 hours to visit this cave, admiring this nature's cathedral & taking numerous photos (a few attached). We walked around twice. Discovered another chamber behind & to the left of the final big chamber the 2nd round. Belted out "The Misty Mountain Cold" in the final chamber. Had a blast and barely made it to our ferry ride.

No need for reservation in Sept, esp if you visit after the morning tourbus rush. Perfectly comfortable @ 15C (59F) - in fact, wonderful...

If you love speleology or simply want to visit and experience a cave, Vranjača is definitely the place for you!

This cave is located 25 kilometers from Split and is accessible by car, with parking available right near the cave entrance. It is fully adapted for visitors and consists of a 365-meter path with electric lighting that takes you to a depth of 65 meters inside the cave. The path mostly consists of stairs, so caution is advised. It takes about an hour to explore the cave.

At the entrance, you will receive a warm welcome from the Punda family, whose ancestors discovered the cave, and today it is managed by two brothers. There are also resting areas and seating at the entrance, which along with the surrounding environment, provides a relaxing atmosphere.

Vranjača Cave is one of the finest examples of what a cave can offer its visitors in this part of Croatia, and it's no wonder it has been officialy recognized a geomorphological phenomenon!

Definitely...

Beautiful cave, world class quality, unbelievable that we have lived in Split for years without knowing about it. Guarding the cave and instructing visitors has been a family business for three generations, the friendly gentleman we met is the grandson of the discoverer of the lower part of the cave. He speaks good English. The mouth of the cave is accessed through a lovely little park, very well tended, flowers, succulents and trees everywhere. The cave is well lit, no guides or lamps needed. We particularly loved being the only explorers and spending as much time as we wanted in the cool cave. Outside temperature more than 30°C, inside 15°C. Around midday seems to be a good time for visiting, in mornings and afternoons it's rather crowded with tourist and school groups.

We were a group of 6 people and we had a wonderful experience. Our guide gave us a short introduction and story about the cave and how they are formed and after 5 minutes let us wander inside. I have been to a lot of places - in fact, I didn't want to go there because I already had low expectations about caves in general. But this one left me pleasantly surprised. It's a must go for everyone. The price is 8 euro for adults and 6 euro for students and elderely people. I recommend you to wear comfortable shoes and bring a hoodie or a jacket because it is very cold inside and the stairs are slippery due to the water and minerals that formed the stalagmites. Definitely recommend.
