Brilliant views over Pag. Was very windy the day we went but that was at the end of a windy couple of days, so don't know if that's what it's like in general at the top. It's a very winding drive down/up but the views are worth it.

Brilliant views over Pag. Was very windy the day we went but that was at the end of a windy couple of days, so don't know if that's what it's like in general at the top. It's a very winding drive down/up but the views are worth it.

Prekrasna lokacija s neponovljivim pogledom. Spomenik gradnji ceste Karlobag – Gospić preko Velebita, kocka (Kubus, Ura) na četiri kugle, nalazi se na Oštarijskom sedlu ili Starim vratima, nad- morske visine 927 m s kojeg se pruža pogled na Karlobag, otok Pag i cijeli Velebitski kanal . Kocka je postavljena u vrijeme gradnje ceste od Gospića do Kar- lobaga(1844.- 1850.), točnije 1846. Do Kocke vode 33 stepenice. S jedne strane Kocke nalazi se natpis Ferdinan- dus I. Austrijski impera- tor MDCCCXLVI. Druga strana : „Der kulmina- tions punchtdes neuen Carlobagenen Strassen zuges an der Sudlichen Grenzedes Velebit Ge- birges bei Stara vrata ist uber der Adriatischen Meeres flasche Wiener fur erhaben“.CCXLVI. Easy and short drive up from Karlobag, do not worry about parking space, not many cars there, breathtaking views if you do not suffer from vertigo. Be prepared for mind-numbing wind. I heard it was strong and still I was...
