pros: beautiful untouched nature amazing view from top of the rocks well marked hiking trail

cons: road to rocks is made of gravel and is quite used up on some turns. go with a higher car if possible. city car will have troubles riding on such a road for 20km after the main sign 'bijele i samarske stijene' the gravel road will have a left-right split which isnt marked and you will not know where to turn. take the right path (the left is not leading to samarian rocks).

rest: the hike is quite demanding. take good sturdy shoes. do not go in running shoes or sandals! there are many climbs over the rocks and fallen trees. the hike isnt adapted to children - it is quite wild but that is what makes it beautiful. take enough water! the closest store is in a village 25km...

Being a true masterpiece od nature this area is a protected nature reserve for a reason. Karst shapes are beautiful, imposing and countless. Footpaths are well marked and also numerous - there are many side-tracks that lead to attractive landmarks and peaks. Flagship peaks Samarske stijene and Bijele stijene are the checkpoints of Goranski planinarski put. Proper exploration of the whole area takes at least two whole days. It also takes a fair level of physical condition and climbing technique as the terrain is very demanding. All who consider themselves mountaineers should visit this at least once. Anyway stay sharp there and remember - take nothing but photos, leave nothing but...

This national park is breathtakingly beautiful. The deep rich green of the plants, the white rocks and summits, the great panorama of the surrounding forest, the small valleys... The list could go on and on. If you want to hike there and see some of the summits, you should have have at least 5 hours at your disposal. The trails are marked and easy to spot. There are quite a few challenges for the average hiker. Here and there, you have to climb a bit. Every challenging spot isn't that bad but the sum of them makes these trails suitable only for those who are willing to invest a bit more than in the average hike. Tldr: gorgeous, peaceful but...

Posjetili Bijele stijene, srednje težak uspon, malo teže skroz na vrh, uz pomoć postavljenih klinova i sajli. Pogled sa vrha je prekrasan!

One of many nature preserves in Croatian wilderness. Near highest peak of Gorski kotar, Bjelolasica, and huge Klek rock, Bijele i Samarske Stijene are very attractive area with a lot of weird, amazing and frightening rock formations. Bijele Stijene (White Rocks) are higher and more visited, but Samarske Stijene (Samarian Rocks) don't have less beauty while walking through.
