I think it's worth mentioning that the ferata or climbing route branches off from the trecking route at this point in the map. The trecking route requires no specialised equipment (although I would recommend boots, sun hat or equivalent protection, and sufficient water for the weather).
As regards the trecking route: there are probably around 5 steps on the ascent where handholds were needed, and more in the descent, with some very modest exposure, but the vast majority of the route is simply walking. The track is marked out by symbols painted onto the rock but hard to discern in some places, particularly on the plateau. It's a strenuous, in parts steep, but fairly short route, with good views as you ascend. The hardest technical part is navigating to the start of the route through narrow residential streets with no demarcation for pedestrians, (at least the drivers here are chilled.). Watch out for loose rubble, vipers (yes vipers!) and thorns underfoot. Difficult conditions for the first fifty metres on the plateau deeply scored with limestone ribs and no clear path (follow the...
Read moreGreat trail, very close to and easily accessible from Podstrana and Split. The trail is marked very well, it features many different stages, each with special charm of it's own. Some beginners might find it a bit hard, but for anyone experienced it will not be a challenge. It's not very long, and you can carry on towards east if you want a longer hike as other routes are connected to it. The views are amazing, I highly recommend starting it 30-20 mins before golden hour; this way you will have even more amazing views and if you take a break at the top maybe you'll even get to see city lights during blue hour as you make it down. Overall very recommended,...
Read moreA challenging hike to the St. George chapel at the top of the hill. You need a good physical condition and bring enough water. You can hike the path with sneakers or hiking shoes. The last part of the climb involves a bit of holding on to rocks as the path gets slippery because of loose gravel. If returning back on the same path it can be slippery because of these loose rocks. The top of the hill or ride is littered with jagged rocks and bushes, if you take care where you step it won’t be a problem. We hiked in the afternoon and we even saw a snake. During the entire hike the views are...
