Actually I wonder if this isn't even a nicer spot than the main fall's we all know at Skradin. Very few people here, so it's really peacefull. The views are stunning. Wear correct footwear if you want to go down to the base of the waterfalls. The first step has a steep but correct path. You reach the ruins of the ancient mill and on your left you can reach the basin of the first step of the falls. Quite an amazing and peacefull site. Facing the shore of the pond there is a path on your right, if you follow it you can get to a little plateau overlooking the second fall from the top. Beware it has a narrow part of about 2m don't go there if you are afraid of hights. Now, if you get back to the mill, and go to the right, down into the building, you can climb through an ancient door/window and keep going down, BEWARE this is steep, and in no way the same kind of path, there is a rope on the steepest part of the path. Again this is not for people afraid of hights, small childeren, people with impaired mobility, ... The climb down is MORE than worth the trouble, the view on the base of the second step is amazing, the cool mist of the water is a refreshing reward for your trouble. Adventures drone owners should deffenatly get down here ! Macro photographers, take your macro lens with you, down at the first step there are tons of dragonfly's in all sorts...
Read moreFirst of all: this waterfall and the viewpoint are part of the Krka National Park and a ticket is required to visit. There are tickets for either the whole park or just the Northern part (including Roški Slap). Having said that, the reception gate doesn't seem to be staffed on less busy days during the low season. We came here 2 days in a row and experienced both.
The viewpoint is easily accessible (230m walk from the car park) and offers stunning views over the waterfall in the distance and the Krka valley.
There's a hike down to the waterfalls as well. If you enter through the ruins on the LEFT side of the path, you get to the upper falls. (There seems to be another path to the lower falls, but it's forbidden to enter.) The upper falls are quite nice and not to difficult to access if you are a normally fit person or kid. There's one very narrow passage, though. If you have time and don't mind the relatively steep climb back (takes maybe 10 - 15 minutes), it's a nice thing to do.
Otherwise I'd recommend just visiting the viewpoint, it's well worth adding to your Krka-NP to-do-list in addition to the main attractions if you've bought a...
Read moreWaterfalls are amazing, and very worth the hike. When taking the right path, it only takes around 15-20 min to get to the bottom of the big waterfall, including going by the observation deck. Unfortunately, we had to find our way the hard way. The park employee working at the entrance gave us nothing but wrong directions. The map used at the entrance to show the way is utterly worthless, and only confuses more than helps. By following the instructions we received at the entrance, we spent around 1h trying all paths until we found other tourists who pointed us towards the right path.
For those interested, the right way to the bottom of the waterfall is as follows: take the path from the entrance, and go first left, then straight ahead and down. At the juncture where you see the small waterfall, take the path to the right. Then continue and go through the old stone hose, exit through the window, down the climbing ropes and you will arrive at the bottom of the waterfall. Enjoy...
