Lighthouse Veli Rat — Attraction in Općina Sali

We wanted to go up to lighthouse with our children. There were many people on the top. There is a vegetable market at the entrance. Market owner stopped us and asked 20 kunas/person. I told OK, please give us tickets. Guy has changed and told us: lighthouse is closed. Come back tomorrow. Later new people went up to lighthouse. I went back and asked the "entrance owner", how it is possible? Answer was: they did not asked tickets! My children were very disappointed, so I told ok, I pay without ticket. Lighthouse Veli Rat, it’s beautiful here!! The little chapel, the swing, the gardens, the sunsets. Everything is so pretty. Wanted to take my daughters boyfriend to the top of the lighthouse as it was his first time visiting. The keepers said it was closed. A while later we saw them letting people up. Svjetionik Veli Rat ili Punta Bjanka, izgrađen je 1849.godine na sjeverozapadnom rtu Dugog otoka i s visinom od 42 m najviši je svjetionik na Jadranudometa svjetla od 22 nautičke milje (oko 40 km).[1]

Nalazi se 35 km zapadno od Zadra. Na udaljenosti od 3 km nalaze se naselja Veli Rat, Verunić i Polje, a trajektna luka u Brbinju udaljena je 9 km.

Svjetionik je okružen gustom borovom šumom, lijepim uvalama i šljunčanim plažama. Ovaj svjetionik jedan je od najljepših na Jadranu, a uz njega se vežu razne legende poput one da je za fasadu neobične žute boje utrošeno 100.000 žutanjaka koja i dan danas stoji. Uz svjetionik je i kapelica sv. Nikole, zaštitnika pomoraca, u kojoj je sačuvan Rimski misaliz 1869. godine. U kapelici se u novije vrijeme sve češće organiziraju romantična vjenčanja.

Do svjetionika se može doći i osobnim vozilom, a zahvaljujući cestovnoj povezanosti s naseljima moguća je redovna opskrba potrebnim namirnicama.
