The PAG BRIDGE brought a road connection to the mainland and greatly accelerated the development of the island, which is known as the moon island due to the strong winds (bora) that often blow from Velebit. The construction of the bridge was an extraordinary technical achievement due to the bora and the demanding terrain of the Ljubačka Strait. The bora blew continuously for four months in a row during construction, with wind speeds often reaching around 200 km/h. The wind demolished cranes, blew away roofs and caused great damage to the construction site. The hurricane-force bora sank, among other things, the ship with the crane "Veli Jože". Despite all the difficulties, the bridge was built on time and opened in 1968. The bridge is a reinforced concrete arch bridge, 340 m long, 27.6 m high, 9 m wide, and the span of the arch is 193 m. The extreme weather conditions that the bridge persistently defies are the reason why it is one of the most frequently closed bridges in the world. During the Homeland War, it played an extremely important role, as it was the only safe connection between the north and south of Croatia after the destruction of the Maslenica Bridge. It was attacked several times by the Yugoslav People's Army, but it remained in use and was restored after the war. Today, tourists like to stop by the bridge and enjoy the view of the bridge and the...

Must seen spot, not only for all the Pag-goers, but also for all of you who pass near this place. Great views!

Edit / May 2025 - As usual, it’s kinda tradition for us to stop at this spot — and in mid-May, it’s a whole different vibe. Barely anyone around, maybe one other car besides us.

We noticed there’s a bar here now that wasn’t around before. It was closed when we showed up, but it actually doesn’t look bad at all. So if you’re here in the summer season, you might be able to grab a solid coffee from a proper espresso machine, maybe some snacks, beer, drinks — the usual.

The view? Amazing. It was a super clear day, so yeah, dropping a few photos again from this...
