Kaštel Drivenik

Drivenik Castle is a castle in the hinterland of Crikvenica and Novi Vinodolski, in the northern part of the Adriatic coast, western Croatia. The castle of Drivenik is first mentioned in 1228 as one of the co-signers of the Vinodol Code.

10/20 Frankopan’s heritage This is an interesting place to see: the unique castle, the place where it is located from all sides has beautiful panoramas. The title of Drivenik castle, one of the nine towns that the Law Codex of Vinodol mentions, testifies to the fact that it was originally wooden. It was only built of stone in the period from the 13th to 15th century. With it the Frankopans defended and monitored traffic through Vinodol, and they received it via a deed of donation of the Croatian-Hungarian King Bela IV for their military service.

Beautiful castle, built on a beautiful spot, like most of the castles around the world. One can enjoy the view around, and a cat will come to company you when you visit it. She likes people around. There is a water tap that provides very good spring water, do drink it. The place is easily accessible by foot or by car etc. At night the lights glow the castle and it can be spotted from far.

Look's really great. Just the enterance to the castle looks closed long time ago. But you can look this building outside. It's beautiful castle with beautiful mountain panorama.

Die Burgruine ist leider verschlossen. Im Innenhof ist eine Bühne für Veranstaltungen. Viel zu sehen gibt es nicht, dafür ist die Aussicht über das Tal schon die Reise wert. Man kann mit dem Auto hinauffahren. Nach der Kirche gibt es einen Parkplatz. Interessanter ist der Wanderpfad, der nach dem Friedhof in südlicher Richtung hinabführt. Zwischen alten Steinmauern führt eine „Treppe“ hinab. Nach 20 Minuten kommt man auf eine Straße.

Povjesno mjesto "putevima Frankopana", za ono vrijeme utvrda na strateškom položaju zaleđa Novog Vinodolskog, sa koje se pogled pruža na istok i zapad prema Bribiru i tribaljskom jezeru, a sa sjevera i juga pružaju se ruke velebitskog gorja. Šteta je što se više ne uloži na održavanje u ovaj vrijedan povjesni spomenik koji može biti pozornica za razne umjetničke događaje.
