Jardín Zoológico de la Habana — Attraction in Nuevo Vedado – Puentes Grandes

This is the single most depressing place I have ever been in my life. All, and I mean all, of the animals are either starving and/or so hot because of the sun that they can't stop pacing. Most of the animals have open sores on them and look so sick you wish you could shoot them to put them out of their misery. Image this: A black bear with paws in the air begging for food while people threw potato chips at it. It's so hot that the bear paces back and forth with matted fur in a small amount of shade. The "pool" it has is green with algae and there is garbage all over its cage.

Really disappointing. Photos show the best of the place but the reality is a place that looks abandoned, barely any staff, malnourished animals with insufficient space in their inclosure that show signs of extreme stress. Tigers and lions pacing in their TINY cages, I mean the size of your average bedroom. Honestly would not...
