Well, this place is in every tourism book and seems to be one of the must-seen of Santiago. I've been there, and thought it's a very regular graveyard. I mean, it might be nice to see, but regarding the "hipe" for this place I was expecting something really more "must-seen".

The memorial for José Marti is pretty, though.

Entrance is 3 CUC. Notice you have to pass by the grave of Fidel Castro while entering, else it's gonna be a mark of disrepect for the...

Ubicado en la ciudad heroica de Santiago de Cuba, el Cementerio Santa Ifigenia es mucho más que un camposanto: es un museo al aire libre, un altar de la historia nacional y un símbolo de identidad cubana. Fundado en 1868 durante la Guerra de los Diez Años, fue declarado Monumento Nacional en 1979. Ha sido ampliado y restaurado para albergar figuras clave de la historia cubana. Personalidades sepultadas José Martí: Apóstol de la independencia, con mausoleo de guardia permanente. Carlos Manuel de Céspedes: Padre de la patria. Mariana Grajales: Madre de los Maceo, símbolo de la mujer cubana. Fidel Castro: Líder de la Revolución, con tumba austera en forma de roca.

Atractivos arquitectónicos y culturales El cementerio cuenta con mausoleos de mármol, esculturas alegóricas y lápidas con inscripciones históricas. Destaca la ceremonia del cambio de guardia frente al mausoleo de Martí, cada 30 minutos. Los recorridos guiados explican la historia de Cuba. Es un espacio ideal para enseñar historia, civismo y patrimonio. Permite reflexionar sobre el legado de figuras políticas, culturales y militares, y fomenta el respeto por la memoria colectiva y la identidad nacional. When you go there, just go all the way to the right when you are in front of the entrance, there is the local (free) entrance. There you don't have to pay to get in. Otherwise they will ask you some money, how much? Just the amount they want to have that day. The cemetery itself is...

Risale al 1868 e rappresenta il cimitero più antico di Cuba. Riposano in questo cimitero personaggi importantissimi tra cui vari musicisti e rivoluzionari: Fidel Castro, Mariana Grajales ecc.. Ogni mezz'ora da vari anni, si ripete il rituale del cambio della guardia. L'ingresso è a pagamento (compreso nel tour), ma vogliono 50 pesos per fare le foto. Il tutto da vedere sicuramente.

Ogni mezz'ora da vari anni, si ripete il rituale del cambio della guardia. L'ingresso è a pagamento (compreso nel tour), ma vogliono 50 pesos per fare le foto. Il tutto da vedere sicuramente.
