Fabulous frescoes inside a seemingly plain exterior. These churches are not systematically open, so call the number provided on the outside and the local keeper will come and open it.

The local in charge of the church was very friendly and provided valuable explanations to the frescoes.

☦️Церковь Богородицы Панагии основана в 1502 г, церковь сначала принадлежала монастырю, который существовал до 19-го века, и сейчас она осталась единственным сохранившимся его строением. Ее стены – это прочная и надежная каменная кладка, а крыша является двускатной, выполненной из деревянных балок и покрытой черепицей. Снаружи церковь выглядит строго и неприступно, имеет минимум окон и один вход, что в 16-м столетии было залогом безопасности. Самая главная ценность находится внутри храма. Это фрески, изображающие как саму Богородицу, так и сцены из Библии. Церковь Богородицы Панагии Подиту является частью всемирного культурного наследия и охраняется ЮНЕСКО.

🤔Личное мнение: Фресок в ней мало. Поэтому целенаправлено сюда ехать особого смысла нет, но заглянуть по дороге стоит. Один большой минус этого места в том, что церковь почти всегда закрыта, нам повезло, какой-то парень вышел с машины и для туристов (которые видимо заказывали экскурсию) открыл церковь и нам получилось попасть внутрь. А так шансов, что вы сможете приехать и зайти внутрь очень мало. Закрепил видео и фото как церковь выглядит внутри (съемка внутри запрещена🤭).
