Fontana Amorosa, also known as the “Fountain of Love,” is a stunning natural attraction located in the Akamas Peninsula of the Paphos district in Cyprus. Here are some enchanting details about Fontana Amorosa:
Historical Significance: The name Fontana Amorosa dates back to the 16th century from the Frank period. It is linked with the famous Baths of Aphrodite, where the goddess is said to have bathed. Legend has it that those who drink from the spring will fall in love again.
Natural Beauty: This location is not your typical sandy beach; it boasts crystal clear waters with a deep green to light blue hue. The seabed is a mix of sand and rocks, with depths ranging from 3 to 5 meters, making it an ideal spot for diving and exploring.
Accessibility: Fontana Amorosa is quite isolated, with no services or facilities, so visitors should bring their own food and drinks. Access is best achieved by a 4x4 vehicle or by sea, with day trips offered from the Latsi port.
Activities: The area is filled with nature trails, perfect for those who love to combine a beach visit with a hike through the surrounding wild vegetation and forested landscapes.

The trip to the beach is doable by foot, bike, rental quads or tall 4×4 cars. Do NOT use a regular car as you will most likly damage the car under and especially not an rental car as the insurance do not cover off road nor damage under the car. By foot the trip is slowly 2 hours each way, perfect for a day trip. If you feel lazy there is a jeep "bus" service from Aphrodites Bath parking.
The beach it self as a narrow stripe and the water is crystal clear. Bring googles or snorkeling gear which will make the trip much more enjoyable. Under water there are very old artifacts from clay pots and you can identify them by the circular shape or round. DO NOT BREAK them as the archaeological department will be very sad ( guess it is even illegal). On the narrow beach you will find small brown ish stones that for me looks like washed parts of broken clay pots together with...

Wilderness backed onto lovely blue sea. Don't expect sandy beaches though. Mostly rock and stones. This is why accessing the area by boat is actually a good idea, allowing you to swim there via easy access. In the summer the locals set up tents along the coast, unbothered by the authorities and they must enjoy the basics of being completely surrounded by this fantastic natural gift that is Akamas. If you take the dirt track from here upwards into the nature reserve do it but DEFINITELY ONLY WITH AN ATV OR PROPER 4X4 with good clearance.. it is probably the worst/toughest I've seen in my 30yrs driving. 'Soft roaders' or crossovers (like Nissan Juke) will not do.. Its that bad.. Our buggy was OK for it but its still quite something. Once you make it to the top the view is worthy so pull over, catch your breath...
