Unregulated use of airsoft weapons in public!
I went with my 7 year old son on a weekend where there were tanks running in the showground. It got off to a bad start because this NATIONAL tank museum has NO directions or signposts in the surrounding roads.
Then it got worse... They are totally ill prepared for large crowds with massive queues for food and drink and some items already sold out at 13:00!
There is a shop there selling airsoft 'BB' guns. Don't buy them! They are poor quality Chinese items costing double the price of normal airsoft guns. They charge 460 Kc for a poor quality Chinese gun when you can buy a much better quality gun from a reputable shop for 289 Kc.
The final nail in the coffin was two 'Saturday boys' in the shop (who I don't think were 18) who were selling airsoft guns to anyone of any age. Even when parents bought them they loaded them and gave them to their children to 'play' with. My son went off to play in a tank used as a children's play area and came back screaming 5 minutes later. He had been shot in the face with an airsoft rifle and the pellet had broken his front tooth! No one cares!!! The Czechs have little or no sense of safety despite it being unlawful to sell/buy or use an airsoft weapon until you are 18 and also unlawful to use them in a public place. It's the 'Wild East' where they can't shake off the culture of their past.
Get a SatNav. Go on a quiet day. Watch your children like hawks. Don't buy their airsoft guns!!! Try and enjoy...
Read moreWe visited this museum (Saturday). Outstanding museum mainly of tanks and various cars used in history starting during WWI. They have exhibits starting with World War 1 that go through the Cold War up until Modern Day. The exhibits are really well done and they have some outstanding artifacts. The museum is free to enter. There is a Cantina to buy food and several shops. They also have the Soviet Tank that was painted by David Černý in 1991. I loved my visit. The museum is a 1 hour 15 min train ride from Prague followed by about a 15 min walk from the station to the museum. Highly recommend if you enjoy...
Read moreGreat exhibition of old military equipment with a heavy focus on WWII. There are many interesting and unique pieces of German, Russian, US and domestic Czech military equipment including ATVs, trucks, tanks, cannons and rockets. Surprisingly, some staple equipment is conspicuous by its absence such as Opel Blitz truck or KDF 82 Kübelwagen. On the other hand there is KDF Schwimmwagen or NSU Kettenkrad. The museum is located in a disused military base virtually in the middle of nowhere but in lovely countryside. Well...
