I’ve visited Vyhlídka Máj twice now, and each time it completely took my breath away. It’s one of the most stunning viewpoints near Prague, perched above a dramatic bend of the Vltava River. The view of the forest-covered hills wrapping around the deep-blue water feels like something out of a painting.

The spot is accessible by public transport from Prague, but what made my second visit even more special was arriving on a Rekola bike straight from the city. It was a perfect day—no crowds, just silence and nature. We had the entire place to ourselves, likely because it was a weekday. We even celebrated Ondra’s birthday there, and I couldn’t imagine a better setting.

There’s a kind of peaceful energy to this place. The rugged cliffs, ancient twisted pines, and the gentle curve of the river far below make you stop and appreciate the moment.

Interesting fact: The viewpoint is named after the Czech word “máj” (May), and the area around it inspired many romantic Czech poets, including Karel Hynek Mácha. The river bend you see from the viewpoint is actually an old meander formed by the Vltava over thousands of years. Despite its natural look, the water level is higher due to the nearby Slapy Dam, creating a serene...

It is very nice place to visit. Lookout offers view of Vltava River making turn between hills. About one kilometer uphill walk will bring you from parking lot to this place. There are no safety railings, restrooms or refreshment. Parking is free at least at time of my last visit but it provides limited number of parking spaces. Maj lookout is often crowded with tourist trying to take a picture of this beautiful place. If you want to avoid crowd and get better pictures. I recommend to go on left downhill to enjoy less crowded and better view of...

The Czech version of the Horseshoe Bend in Arizona. Super nice place to take cool pictures and spend some time in the „woods“. Highly recommend to take a few hours time and walk (north / downstream) to other view points, too. The path (yellow markings) is not that well marked at the beginning but Google maps will point you in the right (general) direction. Highly recommend the area. If you are short on time then at least walk 5-10 min from the main view point to other lookouts for a more private and better...

Nedostatek prostoru a špatné značení mohou snížit pohodlí návštěvníků a zhoršit celkový zážitek. Zlepšení parkování a přidání laviček by zvýšilo pohodlí a atraktivitu tohoto místa. Přestože pohled ušel, některé nedostatky mohou omezit zážitek návštěvníků. Doporučil bych provozovatelům vyhlídky, aby se zaměřili na zlepšení infrastruktury, a tím zvýšili celkovou kvalitu tohoto zajímavého místa.

Close to Prague and what a beautiful place. We trully had luck with the weather - the view was absolutely stunning. It is fairly close from the main road so if you are comming in the frequent time you will be meeting lots of people. We came here right from the start of a day and had a view just for ourselves for a while. Watch your steps on the rocks - can be slippery and the way down is loong.
