Important Information for planning a trip here:
The starting point of trail is from the resturant named “Pension Soutesky” (The Gorge Inn). It is clearly marked on google maps.
In order to enjoy the boat ride, you must buy tickets available only at the Hrensko Tourist Information Center in the Hrensko Town.
The tickets are very limited and they have a specific time mentioned on them so if you arrive at the Gorge at 13:00 with 11:00 tickets you cannot go on the boats that are leaving at 13:00.
Highly recommended to buy the tickets one day before from the tourist information center. Keep cash with you just to be on the safe side.
The trail has two portions that can only be crossed by boat and the trail itself has following parts:
First you walk 1.8km from trail starting point to Edmond Gorge (Roughly 50min) Its a very beautiful and easy walk. Child friendly not stroller friendly but our 2year old and 5 year old were able to do it comfortably with breaks and us carrying the 2 year old from time to time. Rocks do get a slipery when wet.
Edmond gorge itself in only accessible via boat ride and its Gorgeous (Roughly 20min ride)
Boats drop you at the other end of gorge from here starts another roughly 1 km trail it is narrower than the first part and does get harder. (We did not do this with our kids)
After this you reach the second gorge “The wild Gorge” (Divoka) again you hop on the boats (Roughly 10min ride). This is a round trip boat ride and boats drop you back to the same point then you just walk 10min back and take a bus back to Hrensko from one of the bus stops in the area.
Please remember that the trail gate is closed by the forest rangers in case of heavy rain or if it has been raining all night. Usually the Pension Souteska staff knows what time the trail gate will be reopened but its best to check with Tourist Information Center Hrensko.
Even if the Edmond Gorge is closed you can still go to the Divoka gorge; just take a bus from Hrensko to Mezní Louka parking lot and then walk down towards the gorge from there it wont take you very long to get the starting point of the trail from this end. This part of trail is narrow and steep and hard for kids but its bery short roughly 15min and then you reach the Divoka boats point thats mentioned in point 4.
Hope you will enjoy this beautiful trail and the boat ride! Also I recommend to keep water and some light snacks that you can enjoy on the way. There are many benches on the trail to...
Read moreIf you want to hike the gorge and do the boat ride (you have to do both together), here is what you need to know: You have to buy a ticket ahead of time, as entrance capacity is limited every day to less that 150 people. Tickets are sold at the Information center right at the entrance to Hrensko that opens at 8am. If you only came here to do the boat ride, then you need to arrive early, as tickets usually sell out before 8:30. We got in line around 7am, and there were already a few people there before us. After you buy your ticket, you will be given a time slot to show up at the entrance, they take groups on the hour. The entrance is on a trail that passes Pension Soutesky, from the pension it's only a couple minutes walk, so park somewhere nearby if you don't want to walk too far. You'll cross a little bridge where the entrance gate is. When the tour starts you will have 2 guides that go with you on the hike (you can't walk unescorted), it takes about 45 minutes. Beautiful sights to see on the relatively flat trail. At the end of the trail is the small reservoir where the boat takes you up and down the gorge for about 20 minutes. After the boat, you walk back down the same trail returning to the gate. The entire trip took less...
Read moreThis was the first stop on our wonderful day in the Nationalpark. We were adviced by the tourist info in Decin to do this first. We took the bus from the center. You could pay with card in the bus on the way out but not on the way home. So bring cash.
The bus trip was around 30 minutes to the end stop in Mezna.
From the busstop it is a relative short walk to the gorge. When you see the playground turn left. There is a lot of stairs but ok for kids also. Our youngest is 6.
The boat trip is very fairly priced. You can also pay with Euro and I think they even accepted card.
After the gorge we went back up and had lunch at the restaurant by the playground. Great food at a great price.
From there you can take the yellow track to the arch it is around 5 km. We got to the ascend around 4pm and most people were heading down so when we finally reached the top an hour later there were not that many people. When you reach the top you need to pay to go the final part. But you also get access to toilets and restaurant and kiosk. They close at 6pm in high season, so dont come too late.
When you get down from the mountain there is a bus stop just when you come down, which will take you...
