Štěpánka Lookout Tower — Attraction in okres Jablonec nad Nisou

Very nice place just 0:30min walk away from town. The entrance fee is just to get up the tower Wich is totally worth it. Also the middle balcony railguard is beautifully carved with the names of the mountains and towns that you see in each corner. On top it is a bit small but the view is amazing. Outside for free you can see the stone circles and learn a bit about the history of the place. It's a shame that town hall had to remove the giant iron cross at the ledge of the mountains due to complaints...

The story of the watchtower erection is very educative even for the contemporary politicians. Mix of the political favoritism, intriques, personal likes & dislikes is built into the walls. The adjoining German war memorial stands behind the German war insignia & medal convention of the Iron cross abandoned after WW2. If you are staying in Harrachov, then this is another location you should visit, it's about a 15 minute drive and then about a half an hour or more hike to get the lookout point and Tower. Also if you go in the winter, the path to get to the Lookout point in a slope hill, I believe they have a lift also, so you could actually sled back to your car. #travel #SeeTheWorld...
