Frýdštejn Castle — Attraction in okres Jablonec nad Nisou

K zachovalé zřícenině skalního hradu se dostanete po asi tříkilometrovém stoupání od řeky Jizery z Malé Skály. Po cestě si můžete vychutnat nejen nejrozsáhlejší skalní hrad u nás (Vranov), ale potkáte několik zajímavých objektů vybudovaných českým patriotem Františkem Zachariášem Römischem. Jako bonus navíc dostanete úžasné výhledy ze skalního hřebenu do širokého okolí. Hrad Frýdštejn, stojící na strmých, nepřístupných skalách, byl založen ve druhé polovině 14. století pravděpodobně pány z Bibrštejna. Na počátku 15. století byl hrad obléhán husity a ke konci 16. století se uvádí jako pustý. V podhradí stojí jednoduchá pískovcová kaplička z roku 1823, postavená ve stylu lidového baroka.

The well preserved ruins of the rock castle can be reached after approx. 3 km climb from the Jizera River from Malá Skála. On the way you can enjoy not only the largest rock castle in our country (Vranov), but you will meet several interesting buildings built by the Czech patriot František Zachariáš Römisch. As an extra bonus, you get bunch of amazing views from the rock crest into the wide surroundings. The castle Frýdštejn is standing on steep, inaccessible rocks. It was probably founded in the second half of the 14th century by the masters of Bibrstein. At the beginning of the 15th century, the castle was besieged by the Hussites and was declared desolate at the end of the 16th century. In the settlement around the castle there is a simple sandstone chapel built in 1823, built in folk...

Nice place - remnants of a stone castle - a few areas of various use by the original inhabitants. Great view from the top. Impressive walking up & down the steps/ladder. But...beware of the parking lot - a VERY impolite person selling tickets - if you buy for an hour or two, he will very impolitely shout at you to leave a few minutes before the hour ends, even if you just stop to set navigation and though the parking is almost empty!...

Crazy cute coarse castle. Six hundred years ago, the importance of this castle was forgotten after some battle or accident and basically since then, the castle is a ruin... but it attracts people for the whole time. It changed its appearance completely and we can only imagine how the castle used to look... and that's what we do. Or you can ask the lady who sells (cheap) tickets there.
