Climbing a relatively steep slope along the red-marked hiking trail and then standing on top of the lookout tower was a truly amazing experience. If there wasn't such a cold wind, I would have spent much more time on the gallery. The view of the Ore Mountains and the Doupov Mountains, divided by the Oherský tectonic fault, is unforgettable. The stone lookout tower was built around 1880 by former owner of the local spa Heinrich Mattoni on Bučina Hill to become part of the spa park. The building (of course) immediately became a popular destination for spa guests' walks. After World War II, when it served as an observation tower, it ceased to be maintained and gradually deteriorated. At the end of the 20th century the building was referred to as the most dilapidated lookout tower in the Czech Republic. Fortunately, a partial reconstruction took place between 2002 and 2003. The stone cylindrical lookout tower reaches a total height of 13 m. There is a staircase with 62 stone steps leading to the roofed observation gallery at a...

Read moreVery picturesque view of the Ohře river valley, completed with the Ore mountains as backdrop. Definitely worth visiting if you're anywhere near Spa Kyselka. The lookout tower itself has rounded staircase with 60 steps inside and the solid roof on the outside, so you can enjoy the view even in bad weather. The viewing platform might be little crammy though, 5 person tops. Open 24/7, with a picnic...
