I visited Kašperk Castle in Aug 2023, and it was truly a remarkable experience. Located amidst the stunning landscapes of southwestern Bohemia, this medieval castle stands proudly at an impressive elevation of 886 meters above sea level, making it the most highly located royal castle in Bohemia.
What struck me most about Kašperk Castle is the evident care and dedication put into its preservation and restoration.
However, what made my visit truly exceptional was the guided tour led by Zdenek. Without a doubt, Zdenek is the best castle guide I have ever encountered. His knowledge of the castle's history is impressive, Zdenek didn't just recite facts; he shared intriguing historical anecdotes that brought the castle to life.
I can't praise Zdenek enough for his outstanding tour, and I believe he is an invaluable asset to Kašperk Castle. His dedication to ensuring visitors have an unforgettable experience sets this castle apart.
If you're in the area and have the opportunity to visit Kašperk Castle, don't miss it. Thank you, Kašperk Castle, and especially Zdenek, for a...
Read moreThey have two tours. I attend just one of them so I can't tell if both are that great. And also if all guides are that good. But my experience of the tour was great. The guy was funny and informative. He wasn't just telling the same sentences again and again. He perform, it was his little show. He enjoyed the crowd, the information giving us... He was a man on his place! And that's what made my visit a next level visit. Because I usually don't like guided tours because you just move from one room to another, waiting for each other, listening to boring past... But here it was all fun!
The area around this castle is beautiful and so are the views from here for sure. The castle have the proper castle feeling. Some parts are broken, majority remains and you still can find some parts kinda untouched or as they were. You know what I mean... It's just not a few stones it's a nice piece of building and history.
You can take the long hike from the city Kašperské hory or go from parking place which is around half hour walk. It's up to you what...
Read moreWe discovered this castle while meandering our way on the back roads from Prague to Bavaria and I'm so glad we stopped. It's a nice hike up to the castle from the parking area, part is paved and part is rock. The rock trail is in good repair and easy to walk. Parking does have a cost and it is either Czech bills or card.
The castle has a low entry fee, 450 Czech for a family of 3, so about $20. To see inside the castle, you need a guide and that is what the fee is for. Zdenek was our guide and he was great. The tour is in Czech but we were given text to follow and Zdenek spoke great English and was able to answer any questions we had.
While this place is off the main roads, it was totally...
