Šumava National Park. The wolf enclosure in Srní na Šumava is more like a trip to a nature park. The first stop is the indoor exhibition located in the visitor building, which shows the life of wolves and their coexistence with humans. The second part is the more difficult, where the visitor needs to climb up on a hill to get to the second, the main part of the trip, which is the outdoor area, is a wolf enclosure with a viewing platform. The journey up takes about 15-20 minutes. Nothing difficult, and then the visitor can enjoy the view in the forest and from the 300 m long wooden footbridge, raised 3-4 m above the ground, with observation shelters leading through the center of the paddock. I think walking the trail was the best experience of the trip because the visitor can hardly see the wolves that hang out under and around the footbridge. These wolves hide in the forest and are really hard to spot. I saw only two out of thirteen of them and they are not at all clearly visible in the dense forest. There is information about communication between wolves on the footbridge in the enclosure, and the overall walk on the footbridge was very pleasant, as well as a nice indoor display of boards in the visitor building. A children's playground and toilets are available for visitors near the visitor facility, and everything, including entry, is free. All in all, it is a nice family trip and a very refreshing trip in a nature park in the forest, which everyone can easily get used to in this environment and get to know the tracks of animals found in Šumava and some local trees and plants.
Read moreThe moment you enter this national park, the forest grabs you and captivates your eyes. The twisting roads bordered by pine trees that seem to go all the way to the horizon, will delight the soul. This particular attraction was very convenient. Parking was plentiful. 1 hour/ 50 Kc. Good bathrooms. There's a small kiddy play park with merry go round and the like. Places to eat lunch either up the path under the shade of the trees, or at the trail entrance near the play park. The vending machine is inside the visitor center, selling soda and water. The hike is extremely easy and manageable even with a 3 year old. The wolf habitat is fenced and they provide an elevated walkway to view them. The walkway also has interesting facts about wolf habitat and culture. Each segment has a wooden carved explanation of something relating to wolves. I highly recommend this...
Read moreIT WAS AMAZING!! The nature walk to the wolf sanctuary was beautiful and just the right length. The actual walk through the wolf area was beautiful and very exciting. The wooden tree path was a great idea and looks as if it was built a week ago. There are plenty of benches and tables to eat there and on the way- its a great place to go at any time. We even saw about 8 wolves and up close. Parking cost 50kc an hour but other than that the experience is completely free and its definitely worth it. The info centre has a really interesting exhibit on wolves and other forest wildlife and there are free restrooms. Definitely worth a visit if you have an hour or...
