Dear Sir or Madam,
Thanks for replying on my message, actually I live here since 14 years and I understand czech as well as my partner informed me. The point was not to see the ceiling coming closer as I was careful to follow that, the point is that something was out of the ceiling not visible with the candles which are barely making some light around. To enter the facility at our own risk I really see that silly, you should be responsible to provide right equipment to people entering there, also because there are children and people of every age... therefore really not acceptable to say that we (the tourists not aware of the dangers behind) must enter at our own risks, this is not a walk in the outside surrounding where we can see properly the danger coming. I've visiting mines in czech and always got protective plastic helms, think about because I'm sure other people can have same issue soon or later, and check the ceiling properly for all coming out rocks or stones, to follow the arc shape of the ceiling is one thing and to see if anything is protruding out of that is different thing.
Regards.
I've visited last Sunday the Josefov underground tour and tough I was careful holding the candle and walking looking the roof on me coming closer, I have bumped my head into a rock and I had to leave immediately because bleeding heavily.
The ambulance came and gave me assistance. My head was in pain and after we went to the ticket point trying at least to get the entrance refunded but without success...
It's not about the money for 300kc but question of principle as in this nice tour nobody is providing visitors with protective helms at least for that areas where is dangerous to walk only with a candle not providing any reasonable light able to show the path in front of you and assistance not caring too much to inform visitors.
The place is beautiful but this is disappointing and for the sake of next visitors I hope that protective helms will be...
Read moreMust see! An absolutely great museum of the fortifications. The very professional yet laid back tour guide made the tour (in Czech) fun. The best part is walking in the underground corridors with historic lamps with candles - great atmosphere. The underground section included a video demonstration of period weapons used in the fortress. The ticket included a show of amazing baroque statues and several rooms documenting military history of the place. Come early or late to make sure the group is small and the experience more intimate. Sadly, they do not accept cards, so bring enough cash...
