Orlik castle is surrounded by very beautiful landscapes, it is located above Vltava river and if you’re coming in summer, the scenery is all green with blue sky which looks so wonderful. Castle also looks gorgeous inside (you need to buy a ticket for guided tour).

This castle was originally a fortress known since the 13th century. The fortress was later rebuilt into the Gothic castle. In the 16th century, Orlik castle was destroyed by fire and renovated later by new owners (the castle suffered from fires almost each century, but this was one of the biggest renovations). The castle is surrounded by big park made in English style from the 19th century. The current owner is Karel Schwarzenberg who is a famous Czech politician. He was Czech candidate for president, senator and minister of foreign affairs.

The parking is paid (60 Kc per hour) and located very close in about 10 min walk from the castle. I would recommend to take an excursion, as this castle has a very interesting collection of old furniture and antiques and large collection of old guns. You can also take a boat trip around Vltava area near the castle (this trip is for 25 min and they bring you back to the castle) or a boat trip to Zvikov fortress located in 13 km away (it takes 45 min to get there by...

The castle belong to Schwarzenberg family, so its a private property. That explains the 450-czk entry fee. Maybe the highest in whole Czech republic. According to the locals, the owners led the reconstruction paid by state after Communism, and then just lock the doors to visitors for many years. Then open the doors again but at this ridiculous cost. The castle has a good looking exterior without any garden. So its not a typical mid age castle (hrad) but mostly so called "zamek" Ok, but what is inside?

Photos are not aloud, not even a single ones *Tours are super strict and time limited.1 hour , and u cant have enough time if there is something interesting, because they lock 1 room and open after another. Mostly old , wooden furnitures as familiar for all rich castles History of family and how they were successful for all generations illustrations and list of dead animals that they have hunted over centuries. ( Deers, pig, rabbits etc)

I would visit 3 better castle with same money and let money...

The majestic Orlik Castle has been home to many Bohemian kings over the centuries. It was once home to Field Marshall Charles Philip, the commander of the allied armies against Napoleon at the Battle of Leipzig.

Castle Orlik dates back to the second half of the 13th century. The castle changed hands and was renovated a number of times over the centuries. Castle Orlik was transformed from a wooden fort to a Gothic stone castle in the 14th century to a Renaissance-style castle two centuries later, before finally being renovated in the Neo-Gothic style in the...

Bad don’t go cost 900kč for a family you want to go to the top 150kč more. The books and things were faker than Facebook photos. The only thing good was the price of the wander cards. But there are broken windows. And the bathrooom is broken and the bathroom is confusing is the men’s bathroom on the left or right?Oh and “handmade” ice cream is 50kč it’s not even handmade. Plus 900kč for like 10 minutes of nothing and Wikipedia text. Plus I can’t even take pictures inside what? My parents paid 900KČ CHANGE YOUR PRICES OR MAKE IT BETTER. I don’t recommend.

Been here numerous times. It's close to where I stay with family. The castle only has one tour. It's been the same tour for 20+ years. I love going back none the less. Beautiful views over the Vltava river. Gardens and you can even get on a boat tour here. You can Go from Orlík to Zvíkov on the boat. They do one way or round trips. A couple of cafes here at Orlík as well. And the village has great restaurants and cafe bars as well. I highly recommend this area. It is one of my favorites. Also, this is one of the Castles you can not take pics inside.
