The castle in Vranov nad Dyjí is a large, beautiful, very ornate Baroque castle. It shows that its former owners (especially the Althann family) could afford unprecedented luxury for their time. The huge oval hall is breathtaking. The dining room and other parts open to the public are also very interesting. The castle is part of the national park and has beautiful surroundings - for example the adjacent forest park. You cannot park directly at the castle, you have to leave your car on the parking lot below and walk to the castle.

The castle looks really impressive from the town below. We were with a young child so we didn't see the rooms. Otherwise there are a few courtyards but other than that most of the castle grounds are off limits. There seems to be a nice rose garden but you can't visit that either. On the upside the gift shop is amazing and sells some beautiful local made pottery and glassware for dime on the nickel. And the underground cafe is worth visiting as well.

Very well preserved castle. The interiors are really nice and everything is very well taken care of. The guided tour is only available in Czech. However, they will provide you with printed material in English or Ukrainian. The castle surroundings are simply beautiful. It is worth spending time in the nature.

Na zámek jsme vyrazili z náměstí. Trasa vede krátce městem a pak po lesní cestě (dva dospělí, dvě děti 3 a 6 let). Je to celkem kopec, ale dá se zvládnout, není to úplně na kočárek, nakonci jsou schody. Prohlídku jsme s dětmi vzdali, ale vyrazili jsme alespoň na věž. Úzké a strmé schody ideální, nahoru se jde lépe, dolů pak děti lezly pozpátku :) měli jsme štěstí, že nebylo na věži tolik návštěvníků. Krásné výhledy, upravené zahrady. Toalety hned u vstupu a čisté, uklizeno, velká pochvala. Co je horší je kiosek hned před vstupem do brány. Posezení je tak nějak, aby se neřeklo, výběr jídla a pití nic moc, ale za to plno různých cetek, korálků atd. Nakonec jsme si vybrala frappe a bylo opravdu otřesné. Sotva jedna kostka ledu ve sladkém cosi...což je ve 30 stupních opravdu zklamání. Proto jen 4 * a až budou děti větší, vrátíme se i na prohlídku interiéru.

Beautiful castle in barocco style. Very good interiors. Nice excursion. There are three excursions - representations halls (220 kc), private bedrooms (220 kc) and the tower (100 kc). Parking in 600 meters before the castles, 100 Kc for the whole day - ONLY CASH AND ONLY Czech crowns.

Ein sehr schönes Schloss an dem viel gemacht wurde. Absolut sehenswert. Führungen gibt es aber leider nur in der Landessprache - man bekommt aber in Blattform die Übersetzung. Sehr freundliches Personal. Die Führungen sind leider wie in allen Schlössern und Burgen in einzelne Bereiche aufgeteilt - es gibt leider keine "Große Tour". Jede dauert ca. 45 Minuten. Ein Punkt Abzug, da leider kein Parkplatz in der unmittelbaren Nähe ist. Man muss am Fuß des Berges parken und muss 100,- CZK in bar haben, sonst kommt man nicht mehr raus. Der Aufstieg zur Burg ist steil und dauert gemütliche 10 Minuten. In der Burg kann man die Führungen mit Karte zahlen, nicht jedoch in der kleinen Bar. Dort kann wieder nur bar mit Tschechischen Kronen bezahlt werden. Hunde dürfen in den Schlosshof und in die Bar rein - nicht aber zur Führung mitgenommen werden.
