"This place is known as D─Бna-garh. This beautiful place is on top of Brahm─Бcala-parvata (Brahma-parvata). One day, rasika ┼Ъr─л Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣Зa and Subala Sakh─Б were sitting here as tax collectors, eagerly awaiting the arrival of ┼Ъr─лmat─л R─Бdhik─Б and Her friends, who were to pass this way carrying various articles of worship on the pretext of going to worship the Sungod. Upon seeing Her, ┼Ъr─л Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣Зa obstructed Her path and rebuked Her, saying, тАЬWho are You? And where are You going?тАЭ ┼Ъr─лmat─л R─Бdhik─Б answered, тАЬDonтАЩt You know who we are?тАЭ and She fearlessly continued forward. Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣Зa and Subala Sakh─Б again obstructed Her way. This is another pastime place on top of the Brahmagiri Parvata where Krishna and His friends would try to extract taxes (dana) from the gopis. There is a temple here dedicated to this pastime of tax collection known as the Dana-bihari Mandira. This spot is also known as the Danagad peak (the mountain peak of the tax collection pastime). - Excerpt from "Vraj Mandal Parikrama" by Rajashekhar Das Brahmachari Senior disciple of HDG AC BhaktiVedanta Swami Prabhupada Founder Acharya of ISKCON.

And where are You going?тАЭ

┼Ъr─лmat─л R─Бdhik─Б answered, тАЬDonтАЩt You know who we are?тАЭ and She fearlessly continued forward.

Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣Зa and Subala Sakh─Б again obstructed Her way. Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣Зa said, тАЬDonтАЩt You know that I have been appointed by the king of this state to collect taxes here? You cannot pass without paying tax. Every day, You carelessly strut through here carrying a variety of valuable items, and You never pay tax. Halt! Pay the tax and then You may pass.тАЭ

Vi┼Ы─Бkh─Б then spoke in a stern voice: тАЬThis is R─Бdhik─Б тАЩs king┬нdom. Vс╣Ыс╣гabh─Бnu-nandin─л ┼Ъr─лmat─л R─Бdhik─Б is Vс╣Ыnd─Бvane┼Ыvar─л, not anyone else. How have You become the tax collector here without receiving Her permission? Your offence is inexcusable and for it, You must suffer.тАЭ

┼Ъr─л Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣Зa replied, тАЬDonтАЩt talk so impudently. Kandarpadeva (Cupid) is the king of this place. Every day you come and go through here, secretly carrying various expensive items, but you never pay any tax. This has angered Mah─Бr─Бja Kandarpa, who has sent Me here. If you refuse to pay tax, then I will arrest you all and bring you before the king. You will have to suffer whatever punishment he hands down to you.тАЭ

Hearing Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣ЗaтАЩs words, Vi┼Ы─Бkh─Б replied, тАЬWhat can Your king do? Our queen is Vс╣Ыnd─Бvane┼Ыvar─л, the queen of Vс╣Ыnd─Бvana. In Her presence we fear no one. We are well acquainted with the prowess of Your king, whose pride is shattered to pieces by the arrow-like side-long glances of ┼Ъr─лmat─л R─Бdhik─Б.тАЭ Having said this, all the sakh─лs moved forward, keeping ┼Ъr─лmat─л R─Бdhik─Б up front.

Kс╣Ыс╣гс╣Зa stepped forward and stood in the middle of the narrow path of S─Бс╣Еkar─л-khor. тАЬO impertinent women of Vraja, you fear┬нlessly cross this place daily, hiding various kinds of jewels. Today, without fail, you must pay the tax on these jewels.тАЭ

After such joking words and much laughter, Ki┼Ыora-Ki┼Ыor─л enjoyed various amorous pastimes in a solitary grove, and all the sakh─лs became filled with bliss. The temple here is called D─Бna Mandira.
