Uvira is called as Lovely lake city due to Lake Tanganyika. Uvira is a city in Sud-Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of Congo, located at the extreme north end of Lake Tanganyika. There is a lake port called Kalundu at the southern end of the town, which provides links by boat to Kalemie, Kigoma in Tanzania, and Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi.
Lake Tanganyika is a beautiful lake with very strong tide in water. String sea breeze blows almost all day. As you can see in the pictures, rainbows are often seen over the lake. If any one is visiting DRC this lake is a must visit. Hotels and restaurants can be found around the lake for boarding and lodging.
