Fascinating experience. It is a profoundly interesting exhibition. Highly recommend to anyone visiting, and living in, Aarhus.
We visited here during our stay in Aarhus and were presently surprised as how fantastic this museum is. It’s only 10 minutes from the city via public transport and really reasonably priced. We spent a few hours here in awe of the detailed history of Ovartaci’s life and artistic works.
The artwork was incredibly profound and thought provoking. I came away astonished that I had not known of the history of Ovartaci and his art.
The staff at the museum were also great, very friendly and accommodating. I think everyone should support this important exhibition and the causes...

Quaint and intimate museum in the old school of journalism.
The story about Ovartaci and the psychiatric ward is both moving, scary, amazing and so much more. The museum contains lots of original artifacts from the hospital. Great displays.
A small garden with wildflowers and a small fountain lets you contemplate on what went on in the mind of Ovartaci.

Hvis man aldrig har besøgt Ovartaci museet, da det lå i det gamle psykiatriske hospital i Aarhus, vil Museet som det er nu være en hyggelig, spændende lille oplevelse.
Men hvis du har, bliver du højt sandsynlig en anelse skuffet.
kunstværkerne, udstillingerne og selve museums delen er blevet 5 gangen mindre hvorimod souvenir butikken er blevet 5 gange større.
Den del af det originale museum der omhandlede psykiatriens historie er mere eller mindre ikke eksisterende nu. Hvilket er meget ærgerligt.
Og de mange værker fra de andre kunstnere i psykiatrien er blevet kogt ned til 3 vægge hvor kunsten udskiftes i ny og næ.
Jeg selv havde glædet mig meget til et gensyn af mit favorit maleri af conny maxvell. Men da jeg spørger indtil maleriet for jeg beklageligt at vide at det står i kælderen med de andre malerier som ikke bliver vist i udstillingen lige nu, på grund af de jævnligt bliver udskiftet.
Så 3 stjerner til udstillingen hvor jeg førhen ville give det 5.
En ekstra stjerne pga skøn, imødekommende og behagelig betjening af personalet.
Men alt i alt et lidt skuffende gensyn med...
