The Bastrup Tower — Attraction in Allerød Municipality

Don't come here expecting too much - it's just the base of a ruined guard tower. But the history, as explained on the plaque, is interesting and there are some good views of the lake from the viewing platform. The fern, wall-rue (DK: murruden, mentioned on the plaque), might be of interest as well. The tower is along part of the Mølleådalen Kløverstier trail, a very nice walk along the shores...

Bastrup Ruin, Bastruptårnet eller Bastrup Stenhus, som ruinen også kaldes, er et af Nordøstsjællands fineste fortidsminder. Ruinen ligger meget smukt og højt beliggende med udsigt over et velbevaret landskab med sø, tunneldal, marker, enge og løvskove, der ligger udbredt for den besøgendes fod.

Her ånder fred og ro, og med lidt fantasi kan man oppe fra ruinen fornemme historiens vingesus, fra dengang Bastrup Stenhus var et stort og vigtigt borganlæg og kontrolpost, der kontrollerede den vigtige handelsrute, som passerede her mellem søerne...
