The Birds of Prey Show is very entertaining, despite the fact that I couldn’t understand 95% of what was said because I don’t know Danish!
That’s both high praise, and a warning to non-Danish speakers. Only about 5% of the information spoken by the trainers is in English.
One of the things that I enjoyed about the show was that almost every bird had been trained to do something that showcases their unique qualities, like a bird call, or landing on audience members’ heads, or swooping down and grasping prey, etc. This is good showmanship and makes the show memorable.
A big downside is that the location is not easily accessible by bus, and on the day I checked, the bus was scheduled to arrive AFTER the show ended. Being a foreign visitor with no car, I had to rent a bicycle and pedal my way to the show
Another downside is that the shows’ schedule is not available on their website. Luckily, I had planned to arrive on the early side so I didn’t miss it. But I did miss the Reptile Show, which was just before the Birds Show. Had I known about the Reptile Show, I would have tried to arrive...
Read moreIt was okay, there used to more shows about actual birds though. Now its a 10-14:30 event, with about 2-ish hours worth of waiting, 2x 30min shows about some reptiles and the food the birds are given and lastly a total of 60min worth of "rovfugle show"
During the first show, they rip a small dead mouse apart to show the audience the meat inside, and they Display a dead chick to show and tell what the Hawks are fed. That's all fine and dandy, but for some people it was very disturbing as they don't give any warning of what they're about to show.
A little disappointed to be honest, since there isn't a whole lot to do during breaks, other than spending your money in the gift shop, or walk around a very small trail designed for children to throw balls at some trees.
There used to be more shows during the day, where you could arrive at any point to witness how they train and reward their birds
Now its just kind of sad, that half the time you paid for is...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful learning experience for both adults and children (our two girls are 4 and 5,5 years old). Enthusiastic presenters and the passion and love for the animals was palpable throughout the shows. I would highly recommend this place! They always asked whether there were non-Danish audience members and their English was excellent. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the food. The food options were fine but the food itself was awful. Bring your own snacks and food from home for yourself and your children. We unfortunately had their sloppy panini and it was dreadful. We luckily had snacks with us so the children survived on that for lunch. They understandably refused to eat swampy...
