In late March, we traveled from Paris to the Wadden Sea area. After spending our first night near Ribe, in the morning we crossed over to the island of Mando before the high tide covered the narrow path in the afternoon.

In the afternoon, we visited the Wadden Sea Center to ask where we could see the "black sun" phenomenon. The staffperson there took great pains to help us get a reservation on a guided tour the next day. We were truly grateful for her efforts.

The Center has a small but elegant gift shop. Before leaving, we also discovered that it had a cafeteria, which was full of visitors who had presumably returned from (or were going on) their guided tours. We decided to eat there, and were extremely pleased with the food, which was simple, fresh, and mildly seasoned and conducive to our tastes.

The cafeteria is open only for a short time, however, so it is best to...

It is sad to see that modern Danish architecture cannot handle hard-earned experiences regarding the appropriate design of roofs, walls and placement of windows. *Roofs should be made of two independent and diversefied layers of waterproof materials that will prevent rain from entering the building. The top layer of oak spars just adds weight but no function. *Roof eaves should be extended well over facades and ensure that walls and windows are well protected from unnecessary exposure to rain. This is exceptionally important for buildings located near the sea. This building hasn't got any eaves at all. I believe that this is called "minimalistic or organic" in modern architecture nomenclature. *Deeply recessed windows in facades tends to look like black sad sunken eye sockets. The life time expectancy of this building...

Another great experience with the naturalist explaining the environment. Then we gathered various plants along the seashore plus oysters clams muscles and small sea snails. The little food fest at the end was great with super company in nice conversations. Thank you for the great experience!

Vielen Dank 😊
