The geological museum is not spectacular but really educational for the younger kids. It also gives you very good insights on what fossils you could find in the mining area below. (~20minute walk) You can bring your own tools and start hunting for fossils for free or loan them for 50DKK at the museum. We visieet the museum with our 2 kids (3 & 6 yrs) and they liked it very much. Also to get them hyped to start the adventure of finding their own fossils. We spended in the museum ~30mins, In the mining area ~2hours but could easily spend more time as you find more and more. Tip: On sunny days, wear sunglasses and bring sufficient water with you

The Museum itself is pretty small and dogs are not allowed inside. But they're allowed in the quarry. Just make sure dogs and children stay close to you as the trucks are driving at a high speed. You can take a walk through the limestone quarry or borrow a hammer and chisel to dig for fossils yourself. It's pretty cheap to borrow the utensils but our hammer was broken and the head kept falling of so it wasn't of any use. You don't really need the utensils anyway, just look through the rumble on the sides and you should find at least some corrals. Also don't dress in your best clothes since you will get pretty dirty and watch out for the trucks and other vehicles. They're driving at a pretty high speed for a place where pedestrians might be walking. But don't jump to the side to get out of their way, you might just loose a shoe in the wet muddy limestone.

Absolutely loved the place! By the time we visited, there was an exhibition about the dinosaurs' ancestors. Although small, it was amazing to see! After that, we went down the mine and looked for fossils. Although we didn't find a shark tooth, we found a lot of fossilized corals (since it was the bottom of the ocean around 60 million years ago!). The quarry is free to enter at any time of the day. You can rent tools from the museum though for a small fee (25 dkk?). Wear something appropriate if you want to mine of course!

The fact that you can walk into the limestone quarry and find your own fossils such as, shark teeth, starfish and other old creatures alike, and you can bring them home with you if you want. I found a piece of a coral that I brought home with me.

This museum isn’t really worth visiting. It’s got some nice information but much of it isn’t great for English speaking visitors. The ticket was on the pricier side. I recommend visiting the quarry and skipping this part.
