This is a fantastic place to visit for both adults and children, for people who are interested in history, or people who just want a fun experience. They have activities that children will like (knights jousting, anyone?!). The people working there are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the cottages are open to the public. They make bread, shoes, wooden bowls, rope, pewter pins, they're dying yarn using period material and methods, etc You can try archery, watch a period trebuchet sling a huge stone out in the bay (a few people in the audience will be picked out to help), there's a turney with brave knights, and there's a "medieval playground" for the kids. Just check the website for the program of the day, as it seems like some activities are cut on Sunday and Monday. The shop sell honey from their own bees, an assortment of medieval items like mustard, mjød, replicas of old jewelry, sewing needles, bone needles. They also offer toy swords and shields, period inspired dress up clothes for children, informative books, and some t-shirts with their logo on (they were pretty nice!), and also wool yarn dyed at the village by the dying mistress, using plants grown in the village gardens. I'm unfortunately taking a star off for the curiously bad meny at the small (modern) café. They don't even have a regular pølse, which we found a bit strange. It would have been both simpler and tastier than what we got. We paid 95 Danish krone (~15 USD) for a small dish of bean mash, a dry bread slice, half a sliced sausage and some fries.

This is a magical place. I visited it as a volunteer and got to live there for a whole week like in the Middle Ages. I enjoyed the stay from my heart. Lots of time to tell visitors about medieval baking and show my craft and equipment, including the period appropriate sleeping quarter. Even when there was a slight rain, the areal with its reconstructed buildings was alive with the other international re-enactors who had joined to spend the week there. Visit this place when you are in Denmark. Especially if there is an event with many volunteers. And if you do, don't just walk through the village between the shooting of the trebuchet and the tourney. Go everywhere, try out the small ways, look in windows and doors and ask everyone you meet. All the "medieval" people there have interesting things to tell. They might even let you try out stuff. With children the Center can be a marvellous adventure if you go exploring.

Lovely time pocket! Experience actors reliving the middle ages, with shopping street, animal farm, archery, primitive constructions for heavy duty lifting, how to lift water, Knights tournament and much more. Even the lunch area offers entertainment for the smallest family members and traditional middle age dishes besides the regular dishes you would expect of such a place. We went there when they opened (no queue) and left when they closed. Family with 2 kids aged 1+5. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area 😊 very nice entertainment without chasing thrill rides in a theme park.

Outdoor living history museum. Went with a small group and we all had a wonderful visit. It was very informative yet entertaining at the same time, with points of interest for both young and old. Would definitely recommend stopping by. All of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. There is a cafe on site but there are also picnic spaces available. Be sure to arrive before 12:00, so you can see the firing of the trebuchet/catapult. This was one of the highlights of our visit, along with the knight's tournament.
