Knud Rasmussens House — Attraction in Halsnæs Municipality

We visited Knud Rasmunssen's house for an evening walk. The approx. 1.5 km route from Hundested beach to the house along the shoreline was wonderful when the sun was setting. The house was of course closed at that time, but its surroundings were open. We walked to a nearby small lighthouse and a meadow full of horses. There was soft sunset light everywhere in the beautifully rolling grassy dune landscape. The atmosphere was almost unreal. It is worth visiting even when it is closed...

What a great little museum to visit and it is in a wonderful location on the coast. The house design is based on an English thatched cottage and was his summer house and where he chose to work from. Many photographs and information about Rasmussen's explorations and all the original furniture/furnishings were as he left it. The staff there were very helpful. Well...

I went there on Monday, when the museum is closed. However, I still recommend coming to visit the place. Truly beautiful beaches, the lighthouse is really sweet, Rasmussens house is so cute and in this old Danish style. Really really awesome for a day trip...
