Damestenen (The Lady Stone) is Denmark's largest boulder. It was transported here from southern Sweden by a glacier during the last ice age and is called a walking block. The stone is 10 meters high, has a circumference of 45.8 meters and weighs 1000 tons. The stone was the backdrop of numerous myths and legends. Here are two versions about the origin of the stone:

It is said that a lady who lived in Hou (the northern end of Langeland ), was embarrassed that the spirits of Svindinge Church earned the seafarers too good a mark, in anger threw the stone at Svindinge spire. However, although one cannot deny that the good lady has had the strength and understanding to aim, the stone has only reached 2/3 of the way.

Another version:

When the witch had thrown the stone and it was well on its way to Svindinge, an angel came down from heaven and set his foot on it, so that it fell down where it now lies.On top there is a mark,of the angels foot.
