Djurs Sommerland has long outgrown the original concept of a "Sommerland" and is now a fullblown amusement park. It has a good balance between kid friendly rides and thrills for adults, going from simple playgrounds over kids rollercoasters to full blown drop towers and rides where you really should keep looking straight to spare your neck ;) It also manages not to have noticable gaps in that interval of action. It is located fairly remotely in the countryside giving it space for greenery and locations where you can quietly enjoy your homemade meal, and the whole park feels way less cramped than most. This distinguishes it positively from the Copenhagen based amusement parks (and the foreign ones I have visited). They have found a nice balance by setting the mood with music and themed areas, without it intruding too much and being annoying. They have also designed queues with a clear aim to entertain while waiting, without the queues typically growing long enough for it to even be necessary. I have visited during peak season, when queues grew to 30-45 minutes for a few attractions, but even then most places were accessible much faster than that. If in doubt, their app gives a live overview of queue lengths, which in my experience is typically rounded up a bit.
If I should find anything that detracts from the rating, it would be fairly costly food and drink without quality matching price. I will not detract points, as drinking water is available (e.g. at train crossing next to juvelen) and they even provide lit grills for your own food if you prefer that.
In general I'd say they hit a more relaxed atmosphere, with their own...
Read moreThi "Pay entrance fee and ride for free" amusement park is not only the largest in Denmark, in my humble view it is by far also the best! Whether for children (was there with my almost 7 year old grandchild) youngsters (teenagers) their parents or grandparents, there are plenty for everyone - from wild rollercoasters to playgrounds and everything in between During the summer months, they have a large waterpark which include a surfe ride, several water slides and pols, with nice relaxation and sun areas Everything is clean and family friendly. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks (they even have free to use BBQ's) or buy a vast variation of foods in their restaurants - we chose an all you can eat and (soft drinks) drink buffet serving "DIY burgers and spareribs with a variety of potatoes and salads at about DKK 160 (€ 22, £ 18 or $ 23) per adult and less than half price for our granddaughter! I will strongly recommend a visit to Djurs Sommerland if you are on holiday or live anywhere in Denmark, southern Sweden or northern Germany - it is s great funn filled day which will be enjoyed y everyone,...
Read moreGreat place to take your kids and to be honest alot of teenagers and adults will have a really fun time. The park does feel safe, even the scariest rides. Although something to consider is the horrible waiting times, on a sunny day you should expect 40-50min for the popular rides, and in general the park is just stuffed with people. There is not enough restaurants for all the people that in return makes getting something to eat just a horrible experience. Have you ever tried waiting in line for 30 minutes then ordering and then wait another 30 minutes for the food to be ready? It's just horrible, and well the food is as you expect, kind of sloppy and just 'good enough'. To sum it up: Djurs does what it is really good, being a Rollercoaster park. The other stuff has alot of room for improvement. The place is perfect for kids but if you don't like huge amounts of people I would recommend either going somewhere else or waiting for a...
