A beautiful beach although the water temperature hovers, probably, at around about 10°C. This can be a bit cold and takes some getting used. Some people swim in wetsuits, although many others enjoy the cold water. Up to you. Sadly, prices at the local cafe at the beach are outrageous - and if one has a family, with kids who will want something to eat and drink, and maybe a treat, like an ice cream, it can be very expensive and ruin the outing. It is (of course) a horrible feeling to have to say no your kids. It is very worthwhile packing a picnic, and if you want to treat your kids to an ice cream or soda or maybe yourself to a beer or some wine, stop in at any of the major chain stores on your way up...

From the station to the beach, it's a bit of walk, but there are some restaurants, bars, and cafes as well as small shops. Neighborhood kids selling their homemade lemonade, muffins and cookies. Overall very nice atmosphere. It's worth coming over from central Copenhagen - you'll have to change trains 2-3 times, but the journey is very pleasant with greenery...
