Perfect museum Not too big but SUPERBLY INFORMATIVE I really do love interactive knowledge ways to present great part of Danish history Specifically I really enjoyed wounds description and a way to Valhalla, also a fantastic binoculars on the roof terrace All entrances and moving around is disabled persons friendly, also reaching roof terrace. In a gift shop there's a descent range of suveniers from kid's book to scientific studies of Viking era, from wooden toys to Viking "jewellery" You can also buy some alcohol made in by old recepies Stones are amazing and to walk around and find details on a stone is very interesting You can walk around and have some picnic in prepared places. Also there's a small coffee shop with snacks Free admission Free parking Free internet

The Jelling Runic Stones are a major attraction for good reason; 1) runes are the oldest written language in Scandinavia, 2) it is the first time “Denmark” was mentioned in writing, and 3) a beautiful tribute from Harald Bluetooth to his parents. There is so much more to Jelling than just the stones though, make sure you go to the museum, free of charge, to learn just how important Jelling was to the Vikings, and about Vikings in general. Also take a walk along the former outer walls now marked by the white rocks, and walk up the mounds that are burial chambers although it was never 100% confirmed who was buried there. There’s free parking as you enter Jelling which is just a short walk from attractions.

Finally visited the place in July 2020 and its a UNESCO Heritage landmark in Jelling, Vejle Denmark. Very interesting to know how Denmark was born more than 1000 years ago. Jelling burial mounds and one of the runic stones are striking examples of pagan Nordic culture, while the other runic stone. As I lived in Denmark, I'm glad I have visited the place and learned the history behind it. I like the place because it a piece of interesting history about the Denmark. The place is like an outdoor museum. Amazing how the stone preserved until now which commemorating the introduction of Christianity, and the emergence of the church representing Christian predominance. A must place to visit in Denmark.

An absolute highlight of our trip, and well worth the visit. The stones themselves, and the mounds around them, are rich with history, and are fascinating to observe and learn about. Walking along the promenade on a nice day is also a lovely and relaxing experience. The historic site is accompanied by an award-winning interactive museum, which is FREE to enter. I can hardly believe such a great museum and historical site is all free entry. Don’t miss the rooftop terrace, with interactive binoculars that show what the area looked like through the ages.

Home to the monuments constructed during the reigns of the great Viking kings, Gorm the Old and Harald Bluetooth, over 1,000 years ago. The monument area includes the Rune stones. The smaller stone was erected by King Gorm and is the first known display of the name in Denmark in the country. The larger stone was raised by Harald Bluetooth and states that he conquered all of Denmark and converted the Danes to Christianity. Interesting place if you are Viking history buff...

One of the most important historic places in Denmark. Don't miss out on the free museum across the road. Also take a walk around the scenery and see if all from different angels. The history of the stones are very interesting, and really should be studied prior to coming to get the real historic feel. A bunch of good options to get a bite to eat next to the place and in the museum as well. Fairly easy parking. Should not a be a problem off season.
